Yea what has that dude been watching? Maybe he was in a coma. SGA was good at Kentucky but not necessarily a difference maker if he thinks the others aren’t.
Oscar was a rebounding machine but was very limited especially with his defense. He was incredibly undersized for a 5. As evidenced by his inability to play in the league. We never did much in March with Oscar.
I saw Maxey the way you apparently see SGA. Maxey was a turnover machine here. Didn’t blossom till he got to the league. We didn’t do much in March with Maxey.
SGA was the last player here I can’t remember being confident he could go get a basket when we needed it. That was the last team I thought had a chance to win it all. I guess people see things differently.

Yes we didn’t do much with maxey in March because the season was cancelled 😂. Sga was also limited and didn’t blossom until he got to the league. As most of cals players did. Oscar did everything he could in the tourney. Had 30-16 against St. Peter’s and 25-18 against k state the next year. You either are trolling or just love sga for whatever reason.

I never made any claims like OP has said, but OP was right about this dude being the real deal. This team would be an absolute disaster without Williams. A losing record would have been on the table as a possibility. As an unheralded, late signee freshman, he is the steadying force among the guards. He is the guy you trust with the ball with the game on the line. He is the guy who makes the right play, hits the open three, and has the NBA floater. If Mason Williams can play 35+ minutes per game, let him! If he's not starting for the season opener, Mark Pope is an absolute clown.

The guy so far as a freshman is as good as about any 4 or 5 star, of course his dad being a great player in college and pros probably has a lot to do with it, its in the jeans.

Most people form opinions based on scouting reports instead of watching tape on players. The game tape on Williams did not lie. Scouts just ranked him where they did because they did not see him at certain events. With that said no amount of game tape would ever predict if a player's game will translate to the Div. 1 game so quickly. Many posters on this board prefer their guards come with high ranking like Wagner. They get excited. His game just did not translate. William's tape showed a good handle of the ball, good shooter, good passer, thick strong guard. It also showed his flaws he is not over athletic or the quickest guard. He makes up for those shortcomings with heart, instinct, and knowledge of the game. If Wagner a 5-star point guard ranked #3 overall in the 2023 class was the player Williams is then that team would have made a deep run.

He was a 3 star not in the top 100. Let’s not act like anyone thought he would step in and potentially be our starting PG. All I know is with Zoom not being great, this team would be a disaster without him.

4 stars. Anyone who keeps choosing the 3 star assessment is trying too hard. His immediate impact is a surprise. Him impacting is not. Pope is driving Mason to be really good. His praise for Mason is reserved and I think that is because Mason has a lot to learn and can be really really good. Still a frosh and had some frosh moments last night. But never once appeared to drop his head. The kid could be a special college player. I think he could be a force off the bench for both defensive help and scoring. And he is so very steady for a freshman. Most consistent guard on the team in three exhibitions.

Well you kinda had a guess that his driveway coaching was probably better than most.
