Not going to win any auctions, err I mean 5star recruitments, when you aren’t going to be the highest bidder. Simple economics.

And the team who won it all was portal team. Just depends on how well it’s built.
UM had zero frosh starters. UConn had one.

2025 NC game had a total of zero frosh starters.

2024 NC hame had zero frosh starters. Stephon Castle started some games and was a key piece.

In 2023, Karajan was a Redshirt frosh.

The era of one-and-done champions seems passed. People need to catch up.

Look, these goofballs don’t want UK to win a championship. Posting redundant bashing comments is what they want

The undeniable argument is that the better PLAYERS are freshman

The teams that have won it all the last few years have been older with ELITE coaches at the helm

So, the non-elite and elite coaches who focus on OAD aren’t winning championships yet you are chiding UK for not having elite freshmen?

That does not track.
First off, just because a team DIDNT win the championship doesnt meat they werent capable of winning it, if uconn won last year would you have said uconn was the only team that couldve won it all?

For our teams under pope specifically elite freshman is the ONLY think we lack, so yes thats why we need them. We check the other boxes

Oh really? Then why are the teams winning titles loaded with juniors and seniors?

Are you going off draft picks? Who cares whete a guy gets drafted, the NBA is looking for guys that fit the NBA game, they don't give a rip about what you accomplished in college ball.

Goal posts lol

Yeah the players who get picked to play at the highest level arent better players according to you

With that mindset we were capable as well. Sorry to tell you but there is only a few elite freshman every year and some years maybe only 1-2.

Yeah, but at some point, don't you think a freshmen oriented team should win a title in the modern game? If blue chip high school kids are the best players, then shouldn't we see young kids dominate before moving on to the NBA?

What we are seeing every year, is different veteran based teams dominate, while teams loaded with the best freshmen ( duke) choke.

Depends how much you trust the recruiting sites. Millogo supposedly outplayed Uvwo recently at the Border League tournament in Las Vegas right in front of Pope.
Millogo is taking multiple other visits, including BYU which Pope has never won a recruiting battle against, chances are he won’t be at Kentucky either after he visits those other schools.

Yeah we arent capable, we dont have a hurley at the helm and we have a upperclassmen heavy roster in terms of where production is coming from and its just not enough. If we did win it, we would no doubt have the least talented championship roster in the last 2 decades

No i dont think like that at all, only one team can win, thats why i hate when our fans weigh popes outlook on how we do in the tourney because its too fluky

Because the NBA is a different game. They are looking for the most athletic players that have length and they want them before they blossom.

In college, we don't get to see those blue chip guys at their best, they are long gone from college by the time they are dominant.

If you can get a transcendent, or generational talent, sure, but those are rare and even then, they aren't usually seasoned enough to dominate veteran college teams. That's why Mello and AD are in a very small club.

Idc if we suck and win it. Winning is winning. Nobody cares how you do it. Cal had the most talent tons of years and got 1.

You've now said so many contradictory and incoherent things in this thread that all anyone knows for sure is you hate Mark Pope. You should just limit all your posts to "Pope Sucks." At least it wouldn't seem like they were written by a random word generator.

Least talented roster by what metric? Are you going off high school recruiting ratings? Are you going off the eye test?

If Florida didn’t win the title in 2025, would we look at them and say they were talented? Their guards came from mid major colleges and it was a mix of good college veteran players.

Same with Michigan last year. What metric are you using to judge all the transfers they had? Their best players were transfers.

If UK wins the title this year, it will be because they had guys go off and play at a special level, just like Michigan, Florida and UConn did.

Okay, but duke has had the highest level of talent the last few years, but they keep losing to veteran teams, built with players nobody wanted out of HS.

If NBA talent was the way to go, duke would own college basketball. Calipari would own college basketball, but it's not happening.

Stephon Castle started 30 of 34 games and was a top 5 pick because he played like one. Best defensive guard in the country by March.
Sorry, just had to clear that up haha
