Ads On Kansas’ Court, Potential For Same At Rupp?

Watching a clip of Stokes the other day the thing that stuck out to me most in the whole video is the hideous Monster ad at the free throw line. A day or two later I also saw the same ad on a Big12 team’s football field. So I’m guessing Monster is a Big12 sponsor and not just a Kansas sponsor.

But my god that ad, and how it’s done, looks awful at the Phog. I can’t believe Kansas fans didn’t revolt over that. I say all that as someone who actually loves Monster and thinks they have a good logo. There’s some places you just don’t put ads though.

I’d be furious if Rupp had a big black rectangle box with the Monster logo slapped on both free throw lines. I’d imagine I wouldn’t be the only one to have strong opposing feelings as well. I don’t exactly like the Rupp Arena Central Bank ad on Rupp’s court right now but atleast it kinda blends in with the rest of the court.

Not a fan of anything for money but if they are going to do it why not use the laser lights to reflect it from the floor instead of decals? Decals seem to cause a lot of slippery spots that could disrupt games or cause injury.

I said in my post that I don't like it, but I also can't do anything to change it. If the alternative is pushing back on the new way and playing at a competitive disadvantage, then yes I am okay with taking advantage of the new system. I don't think any program should put themselves at a disadvantage just for some nostalgic "the way it used to be" sentiment. Might as well win in this new era.
