Class A: Elkhorn North vs Elkhorn South
- Rematch from this past Friday which saw the Storm win 27-17. I think rematches are difficult back to back weeks. I think they're more difficult for the team that won.. What do you change? Broke don't fix it? What will the team that lost change? Mental gymnastics, for sure. I think Elkhorn North Is going to avenge the loss in this one.. No real reason other than just a guess.
Elkhorn North: 24 - Elkhorn South: 21
Class B: Blair vs McCook
- This one is just about the feel good story of Blair. Good for them on the resurgence into the football scene. I'm not super familiar with class B and all the drama about who is playing who and emerging districts, etc. Are they part of that? Anyways..
Blair: 34 - McCook: 21
Class C1: Roncalli vs Ashland-Greenwood
- Man, what a stroke of bad luck for AG with their QB injury situation. It's clearly affecting them.. BUT, I'm not sure I'd chalk them up for 3 straight losses, I just don't see it. Roncalli has alot of people backing them.. Their performance against Boys Town was telling, to me, at least. AG gets things going again, at least for this round.
Ashland Greenwood: 40 - Roncalli: 28
Class C2: Yutan vs Wilber-Clatonia
- Don't get me wrong, Yutan wins, I think? However, this is one of the only "interesting" games in C2 first round in my opinion. I think it will be a physical bout, if WC can keep Yutan's ground game in check, do they have a shot at the upset? Maybe.
Yutan: 27 - Wilber Clatonia: 15
Class D1: Centura vs Hartington - Newcastle
- Nothing too intriguing in this class either; however, I'll pick this one just because it has *potential* to be high scoring and fun to watch. I think HNC wins the game. Something high scoring.
HNC: 52 - Centura: 34
Class D2: Neligh-Oakdale vs Loomis
- I think this one has the makings to be a really, really, good football game. Loomis with the power and some finesse... NO with the finesse and some power. I think that's a crazy 13 seed or whatever they are. That QB is good. Loomis, they're real good, too.
Loomis: 40 - NO: 36
Class D3: Anselmo Merna vs Wausa
- I think this is a 12/5 "upset" for sure. Wausa is good, don't get me wrong; however, AM has really dialed in who they are here lately and I think they're just waiting on the chance to showcase who they are. Duryea for 200+ on the ground. Wausa makes it a game early, wears down in the 4Q is my prediction.
