He shouldve retired when NIL became a thing alongside a bunch of other coaches cough Dabo cough
I honestly believe Schiano is dumb enough that he thought NIL was going to be utilized as it was presented and sold to the world by idiots like Geo Baker. I think Schiano thought a handful of players would run some summer camps, a handful would get paid in free food for making appearances at Stuff Yer Face, and like two or three would get paid because the bookstore put their photo on a t-shirt. I don't believe he ever, in a million years, thought it would immediately turn into pay-for-play.

Nick Saban knew (and said so at the time). And that's why he's laughing his *** off on TV instead of struggling to keep his backups from transferring to Auburn and Ole Miss.

Who is the guy that came onto the show spouting off opinion after opinion then admitting he’s a huge fan of GS?

I'm glad Messi lost, the young bucks of the Red Bulls put him in his place. The GOAT is washed.

It’s been posted numerous times. Your response is “I don’t believe it”. It’s not my job to fix that for you.
*Yawn* You can't defend your assertions. Kelli did not say what you claim she said. You're welcome to run away like last week. There's at least one dope on here who is still following your lead from last week's moronic conversation continuing to claim the revenue sharing player contracts are not NIL contracts. Are your "insiders" claiming Schiano will be fired for like the 5th consecutive Monday or are we off that now until the end of the season?

NIL and Revenue Sharing come from TWO different pools of funds. What's so hard to understand?

Third-party NIL and school revenue sharing payments come from two different pools of funds. Literally nobody is disputing this. Direct revenue sharing payments from schools to players are also NIL payments; this is what is in dispute and what Cali (and I guess his "insiders") do not understand.

Porter played well yesterday. Ashenfelder also hit Carter in the hands and he dropped the ball.
Hope we see Ashenfelder start on Saturday.
That pass to Carter was a tight window ..I think he saw was going to get crushed in the Endzone and held up. The Ashenfelder interception late in the game was totally on him. Waited a second or two to late to make that Pass.

It’s been “defended” numerous x. You just won’t believe it because you don’t believe it. You have no proof to back up your position other than you don’t believe it, even after numerous x being shown you are wrong. And you still won’t believe it.

You simply refuse to believe the facts. That’s on you.

Rutgers could easily spend as much NIL as other teams and get less for it. Will 5-star and 4-star players play for Rutgers for the same money as a better team offers? Has Rutgers attracted any 5-star? Not in my memory. It might take 50% more money for a 5-star to sacrifice his potential pro career. Then there's the issue of how well those dollars are being spent.

Do 3-star recruits get paid? Do the top teams pay for 3-star? I would be very selective about paying for 3-star, and maybe just promise money commensurate with their performance if they make the lineup. If the money were limited to highly rated recruits, it would be better spent and hopefully result in more of them.

Maybe Adventures in Babysitting don't care about the facts. Only wants reactions to it's never ending quest to control the conversation by questing the facts and then refusing to accept the fact someone explains them .

Adventure is arguing with himself now.
The issue is that he is misrepresenting the position by arguing against what he wishes was said, rather than what was actually said.

Understanding that NIL and Revenue sharing are 2 separate pools- but am I wrong with my own assumption, that both are pretty much used to pay for a roster in one way or another? I actually don't follow it that close so I may be wrong. But, that is what I had thought.

As I see it anyway- either Greg has really f-ed up by either paying for the wrong players or, he just may be one of the big reasons we do not have outside NIL money coming in.

Either way- it can't be used as an excuse to losing to UMass or BC.

C’mon man, Shelby’s on the Cali wavelength in everything football-related but the slur is inappropriate in today’s parlance.

Schiano’s time is long-past, as is that awful expression. Be better.
It’s actually acceptable again. Really always was.

They are similar but very different. The NIL portion has no cap like revenue sharing but has to go through the CSC's NIL GO clearinghouse. They've rejected NIL deals that either overvalued the NIL for certain activities (based on valuation models) or as Nebraska and a few other schools found out their deals were ruled to be "warehousing schemes". This was because there is no "immediate commercial activation" of the deal. Basically, a multimedia partner entered into an NIL agreement with the Nebraska and there was no clear sponsor details and/or valid business purpose under the rules. Click on the link below if you want more details.

For revenue sharing, there is no NIL component requirement, the school can use however much of the $20.5 million towards paying the athlete. This is what Adventure in Babysitting is failing to grasp just because everyone is lazily calling both pieces NIL. Both are payments but earned in very different ways.

OK- I now understand the differences. Bottom line though, NIL + Revenue share allocated to the players equals what the coach has - with NIL being a variable amount and it is "regulated"
I think I remember Keli saying something like there was in the $14-15 mil range raise in NIL money. And I would have to believe that at least $12 mil out of the 20 RS went to football.

I know other schools have much more NIL but it isn't like we have nothing. And we most likely have close to 10X UMass. And within a couple mil of almost half the B1G schools and most other conferences.

I know we have a ways to go but it is embarrassing to see so many schools in much lessor conferences being ranked and beating ranked teams.

Exactly. Even though a certain someone keeps referencing B1G and SEC contracts etc… but still keeps posting articles prior to the settlement. It’s clear. There is a separation between NIL and Rev Share. And at no point should they be confused.

Why the Distinction Matters in the SEC and Big Ten

1. Circumvention Rules: The NCAA and power conferences specifically separate the two so that schools cannot pass off third-party booster money as revenue share, nor can they use disguised "NIL" payments from booster collectives to exceed the school's hard cap on revenue sharing.

2. Clearinghouse Enforcement: Because third-party commercial NIL deals remain uncapped, any NIL deal over $600 gets screened by clearinghouse mechanics (such as NIL Go) to confirm standard "fair market value" and bona fide business promotion. Revenue sharing, by contrast, comes straight off the athletic department's balance sheet under a pre-determined distribution model.

3. Additive, Not Exclusive: SEC and Big Ten athletes do not have to choose one or the other; they are permitted to receive direct revenue-share disbursements from their university while simultaneously signing separate, legitimate commercial NIL contracts with external companies.

Agreed, Greg had an opportunity to change the narrative by fixing the defense with the extra money this year and then didn't hire a DC until February when he relieved Robb Smith of his responsibilities midseason.

There were higher rated players interested in coming to RU but wouldn't without knowing who the DC was going to be.

It's incomprehensible that he didn't get it done quickly considering how long the position was open by season's end. And a major reason why many turned on him after UMass and BC.

Maybe we should just ask him why he changed his user name from yessir or whatever it was.
My username has always been some version of "RutgersHouston" (After various suspensions ... I was too hard on Schiano, and then Hermann, for previous Board management ... it was RutgersHouston2. And I'm pretty sure there was a RutgersHouston3 at one point also). When the Board switched ownership/management, I lost my password and created this username. I have not ever been "yessir" or any other name. Is Yessir someone who actually understood that the direct school payments to players from the revenue sharing are NIL payments, too?

Why is Geo Baker an idiot?
He was a selfish a-hole that was only worried about himself and becoming a civil rights leader and influencer. Did everything he could to make it harder for Rutgers to succeed, including trying to lead a protest of the NCAA tournament (which would be a time of maximum positive exposure for the school). And where is he now? Nobody outside of this message board has any idea who he is. The movement used him and spit him out. He's the definition of a useful idiot.

There are two separate pools ...

1. Third party (entities who aren't the university) payments to players for use of NIL, and
2. Revenue sharing payments from the university to players for use of NIL

The first group can be further broken down into (1) entities that are having their spending directed by the university, and (2) non-associated entities that have nothing to do with the school and do not act at their direction or with their input.

The revenue sharing money does not necessarily have to be spent on direct payments to players (all of which are NIL payments), it can also be spent on scholarships, academic awards, medical coverage and benefits or basically anything the school can argue as supporting the players. And the revenue sharing technically doesn't even need to be spent at all - it is a ceiling cap, not a floor.
