Just throwing a name out there who would take our job and that we can reasonably expect to win games. In the 24-team playoff era, the pendulum swings back to having a good "gameday coach," and he is that.

Of his 13 career losses, 12 have been to a team that's either FBS (can't blame him for those, even though he has won a couple), or top 10 FCS (and he's won more of those than he's lost).

How many coaches have gone directly from FCS to a Power 4 job? Doesn’t happen often. Chris Kliemann went from North Dakota State to Kansas State and won the Big 12 title. Jim Tressel went from Youngstown State to Ohio State and won a national title. Other than that, can’t really think of any who had great success.

I can't think of anyone other than those 2 and Deion, but there may be some others. Regardless, two out of three were home run hires and could have been expected to be, given their records at their FCS job.

Didnt Kelly do it ? Anyway thats the route we should go. Hire a winner from a lower level
I don’t know. This might have been the answer ten years ago but do you really want to hire a coach with zero experience in NIL and the transfer portal. Games are no longer won on fall saturdays, they are won when the portal opens.

I wonder if he's been seriously considered. And would he seriously consider moving if we wanted him to? There's a world of difference in Montana and Mississippi.

Brent Vigen's current salary is $295,000, and he got a $180,000 bonus last year for winning the national championship.

I just can't imagine him turning down a 10x salary increase.
