Trying to rationalize here, Iowa always has a turd…always

We played absolutely horrible but this was a massive anomaly for Iowa with 5 turnovers and all the penalties. Yet we still probably could’ve/should’ve won.

I’m not excusing how bad the offense, especially QB play looked. But they aren’t nearly as bad as they played. Take away the just absolute crazy turnover and penalty stats and this is a game they still probably eke a W out and throw away. Unfortunately it’s a loss they have to throw away.

I am not saying Iowa is a playoff team by any means but they still have a solid chance in every remaining game. Just a weird vibe the entire game.

this actually was the perfect game to play horribly and still win. we should’ve stopped at the 7-8 turd mark but unfortunately lost full bowel control

Posted this in another thread. It's almost impossible to F up this bad. I can't remember the last time ive seen this...And still had a chance to win with 1 of these going the other way. #2 specifically

1. Blocked punt inside 20
2. Fumbled punt return to basically set up a game winning FG
3. Hank fumble
4. RB fumble but luckily recovered
5. Interception inside 5 by Heck
6. A WR ricochet interception off VDZ gloves
7. Offsides to give them a TD
8. Missing at least 2 wide open WRs for TDs
9. Hank interception right before half
10. Running on 2nd and 10 into a stacked box every ******* time

there was so many plays that felt like were just plays that were evidence that it was not going to be our day. Even early on. Two false starts by our all-American guard killing an early drive. Lining up offsides on fourth and goal. Any of those things absolutely change the game. Mix in are absolute pussified play calling on that last drive. I’ve never seen a team less deserving of a win than Iowa today and they still almost won

If they fair caught that final punt on the first one (the fumbled one with the penalty) we probably move it 20 yards into FG range. Or maybe just don’t fumble. PR has been shaky all year.

#10 is funny enough to make a fan cry, it was so apparent that Minny knew their weakness against the run so they stacked their defense and the hawks, and I am talking Lester, did little to outflank them.

Yeah #10 was infuriating to watch happen over and over again, but we do that damn play almost every single time, every single game on 2nd, no matter the yards to first down. It's crazy.

I'd also add how Tracy on MN ran through us like the naked greased up deaf guy from Family Guy. Got big chunks of yards.

It was a comical affair.

Another way to say it is: Iowa squeezes more production out of their talent than most programs. Every once in a while, enough deficiencies manifest in the same game to make it ugly.

Welp, I'd say you summed it up perfectly. Could not have played worse and yet they needed a 47 FG with time expiring to win.

Defense played very good. Offense and special teams sucked.

I haven't been able to watch every game the past few years. But this was the worst performance I've seen from an Iowa team since the Citrus Bowl against Tennessee. And I don't know how many more years you have to go back to find a regular season game this bad against a team that wasn't noticeably better than us. We were not overmatched by Minnesota in this game, we just outmistaked them. They basically had two scoring drives against us in the entire game that netted them 10 points. Our defense made a couple of mistakes in the offsides on the 4th down stop, and giving up that big gain on the winning drive.

The offensive intensity, concentration, and ball control were absolutely horrid. Pick any 2 mistakes and change them and we may very well win this game. Play our normal, mostly mistake free, Ferentz-style football and we win that game by 3 touchdowns. Fans need to flush this one and move on.
