This is why you buy a QB

Our QBs could be serviceable if the OL wasn’t complete dogshite. I would’ve upgraded there first. Don’t get me wrong, we could do much better at QB than what we have, but an elite QB with our OL wouldn’t give much better results. But an elite OL with our current QBs and we’d be much better specifically because we could run the ball more effectively and consistently.

Our OL is extremely underwhelming. Everyone was terrible today.

We need to get Diaz the ball more. I have no idea what's going on there. Guys are giving him a huge cushion. Just get him the ball wide and let him go. RVZ had a massive error today but is still a very good WR. We have a million TEs.

I don't get how we don't get these guys easy touches.

I don’t hear you chirping about all the other positions that are feeding the NFL pipeline under Kirk.
How many meaningful things have those players contributed to at the college level? Good for them, and I root for former players success, but the combined professional salaries of ALL of those current players equals zero championships at the college level. Not one single alumni was part of a big ten championship or even a playoff team.

Brown and Jeremy 2nd year with Lester and they have already reached their low ceiling.

You don’t have a QB you have no chance to compete for a playoff birth playing in the big 10
Every other BIG team that didn't already have a legit starter did. Instead we rolled out a couple cast-off 'system' guys. o_O

Indiana's Josh Hoover's deal is 4-4.5 million. He was 8-18 for 81 yards and an INT against Michigan today...

Bryce Underwood's 12 million dollar deal was good for 1 carry and -1 yard today.

It doesn't matter. As long as KF is making the final decision Iowa is F'd at qb. It really is amazing that a 71 yr old man who has dedicated his life to the game can be so utterly clueless and incompetent with qb evaluations and development when its the most important position by far

Anyone who pays any attention had to know Iowa was screwed when he decided Hank and Heck were good enough. Just not a bright man when it comes to that position

I’ve thought since the ISU game that Lester isn’t this guru that everyone claims he is.

Maybe not, still better than what we had.

I think there is a lot of soul searching.

Lester did not call a good game. Run on 2nd down was beyond predictable. Minnesota knew.

Barnett has had one good year with the line and everyone wanting us to apologize for his earlier criticism. The line is back to struggling AND getting penalized.

Bud needs to leave like yesterday. We HAVE to invest in a REAL QB coach. It's not a plug and play.

The players have also played horrible today. So many mistakes in every single offensive position group.

Huh? 2002 and 2004 we won the big ten championships.

Maybe he did not call his "A" game but damn Tony was missed for one easy TD and one huge gain. He called the drive to take them down the field early and Heck throws the pick at the 2. Not long after Kirk makes the QB change(and we all know it was him) and Lester play calling changes because the playbook is much smaller with Hank. Very vanilla. More run heavy. BUT Hank is what Kirk wants. Here comes Wisconsin who will load the box and dare hank to throw. We are in big trouble in my opinion.

Have you seen the QB play for Michigan and Indiana this season? Neither of those teams has one decent QB, which is why their game ended in regulation at 6-6. LOL

Indiana did not complete ONE single pass in the second half yesterday until OT. The Minnesota QB isn't very good. The backup at Washington looked good vs. Iowa. I haven't seen much great QB play anywhere this season. Where have all the great QBs gone?

Agreed on the change. Agreed that players need to make the plays too.

Who gives a **** about the NFL pipeline? We want Iowa to win now, in college football.
You actually think this team is/was going to win it all? I mean, it's possible.

But if it's all or nothing, then don't be satisfied with a final 4.

Guess what? It's not all or nothing. That's why 90% of the programs across the country would kill to be Iowa

Hayden would just flat out say QB is the most important position. With KF it seems often like it's an afterthought. To think once upon a team Iowa had Long, Vlasic, and Hartlieb in succession.
I feel like under KF the QB is being asked to be nothing more than a game manager. Stay in the pocket, throw dink and dunk underneath passes, and hand off. That's your job.

Iowa needs to buy a qb because they put the ball on the ground all day and had huge penalties?

Here’s the thing, man: Every program strives to “take the next step”

If you’re a 1-10 program, you probably, realistically, strive for a 4-6 win season the next time out.

If you’re a program that comes up just short of a bowl game, you’re likely in a “Damnit, We’re gonna make a bowl next season” mindset.

But something’s gotta give for Iowa football. We experience the same shortcoming every single season - the specific shortcoming being our inability to identify a decently-talented quarterback.

Do you NOT understand that the fan base does not currently expect to “win it all”?? We would, though, like to turn the corner and take the next step which for Iowa….Is to be a playoff team.
