I don’t think this is the case. Unless the first season is next year because the schedule is brutal. But it’s really easy to win 7-9 games at Iowa. Kirk has proven that. Plus look at Utah. Whittingham was the second longest tenured coach behind Kirk and year 1 post Whit and they are ranked top 10 and undefeated.

I don't want a change of coaching staff or anything but this was an absolute ******* disgrace

Fake punt against Wisky is hard to beat. That single play sent the program into the doldrums for 4+ years, and everyone could feel it at the time.

Today was really, really bad, though. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an Iowa team so unprepared and careless across the board, with so much to play for against what should have been an inferior rival opponent.

I can't believe after all these years people still think, "this is the year it's going to be different" lol. Kirk is a 7-5/8-4 coach and we're a program that has reiterated time and again that is acceptable. It's less painful to just quit hoping for something more and take it for what it is, something to have on TV for a few hours on Saturday.

On the positive...the next game we bent over Kirk Cousins in IC. Was that Halloween weekend? We could do the same against Wisconsin!

But in all seriousness.... You're right this loss was just 1 giant F up after another. You could try to lose and I don't think it would look as bad. It's almost impossible really

I wish KF would pack it in and stop thinking this is his team to eternity. I don't want to see him doing the Joepa routine and trotting out there into his 80s.

Ironically, the 2010 debacle at Minny is arguably the worst loss of his tenure. That team was loaded with NFL talent.
Of course, he has lost 12 times to Clown College

I don’t necessarily either. However, I will have a little renewed enthusiasm for Hawkeye football when a change is inevitably made. When that is who knows? Kirk will determine when that is and I am ok with that. Until then I will continue to watch. Yay, go hawks.

In the big picture I think Beth will make the determination. Notice she hasn't extended Kirk's contact and has given no indication that she will. Kirk may or maybe not retire before the end of the contract. I think he wants to keep coaching but the end will come sooner than he probably wants it too.

Also lost in 2011 to Minnesota at Minny. Both those Minnesota teams were terrible. A total of two home conference wins those two seasons. :( Both Iowa.
