Last few hours was big.

Got the car. Drive north to navy facility. Hot Portillos in Deerfield. Then went to Home Alone house which set us on the course for driving the whole coast back through Northwester and Chicago U and came into the city that way. Fantastic

An old dive bar I used to frequent was the “Redheaded Piano Bar” 16 W Ontario steeet. It may be walkable from where you are, not sure

I saw that yesterday. Interesting. Probably laying low. Up early to head back to the base for graduation. Maybe order a pizza

It kind of reminds me of Paris in that anywhere you’re at you looking at an amazing piece of architecture. People just chilling and everyone in a good mood. Great place.

Graduation was great today. Was easy renting and returning the car. Hit the Doighnut Vault for an old fashioned to hold us over.

Having a cider at the Brewnouse on the river walk and planning the rest of the last day. Probably taking a water taxi to Chinatown for dinner.

It’s been so long since I did touristy stuff this thread has made me want to take a mini three day staycation in Chi. Well done OP…you packed a lot into a few days.

Hope the city delivered above your expectations.

Dude. I walk my dogs past vmi campus every morning. They produce exceptionally fine young men and women who grow into balanced and engaged adult citizens. Though the va public universities are currently the rope in a game of political tug of war, the students see them through.

When you’re in town next, or if you/he ever need anything here in big lex, ping me. (We’ve also got a slightly primitive carriage house that is walking distance to everything if you ever have a problem finding a place on big weekends here).

Well crap. Just seeing this as Mrs a and I were up in warrenton all day yesterday doing the great pumpkin ride and catching up with my old high school friends. Got back on the later side and collapsed on sofa watching football and hockey.

you picked a spectacular weekend to come to the Shenandoah. Hope your son is managing his rat year ok! I suspect you got a feel for how strong the vmi community is.
