but, hey, we're almost even in the "time of possession" game!!! That's a WIN in Greg's book!!!

....nice to hear a HC, headed into the lockers, say "we kinda let down there in the 2nd quarter so we already made some adjustments and will straighten that out for the next half.”

ALREADY…. now that’s the kind of head Coach I want!!!!

I dont try to even keep up with game threads so happy you just posted this- my thoughts...first and foremost- how was the hit on our QB not targeting? I dont care what anyone says- the defender only went down that low because he saw the QB going low and even with that- enough time to at least make it look like he was trying not to go head to head.

Not changing the game though- our defense is just bad bad bad...our DB's cant cover and not a damn player knows angles or how to wrap a player up. There is no urgency to get to the ball so we often see it being - one on one and then open field.

I hope things change but Keli- seriously, don't wait.

And all of that said- NWU- big wins, 5-1, ranked, beautiful new stadium and maybe 20k at the stadium? Or, at least it looks that way.

Discussed in the game thread, when you dive head first you lose defenseless player protection. Hit wasn’t with crown of his helmet, their helmets collided on the sides. So no targeting to call

They have serious attendance issues. No question. I'd be stunned if there are actually 20K in the stadium.

There is no typical student section with seating in new stadium. There is a "standing" section for them. Developer says the stadium can be soldout and look empty because people are standing in other sections.

"Northwestern University's new Ryan Field (which opened on October 2, 2026) features a seatless student section called the Wildcat Wall.

Key Details About the Wildcat Wall

• Design: Inspired by European soccer stadiums, it is a safe-standing supporter section with a steep 33-degree slope, metal safety railings, and zero traditional seats.

• Capacity: It holds 2,000 students directly above the south end zone and over the visiting team's locker room"

After todays game- I am sorry, but unless Keli is a complete idiot, there is zero reason to go another week with Greg. He even looks like he has given up on the sideline.

Yes…..it’s modeled after soccer new/smaller stadiums around the world…. That doesn’t excuse the fact that there were less than 1000 of them there for a game while they’re ranked.

It doesn't matter- it is something we see 100 times any given weekend. And 90 out of the 100 times- a helmet to helmet at 2 feet above the ground is not only a penalty but targeting.
It you don’t dive head first to begin with, you avoid 1) the potential of a defensive player doing this, whether it’s legal or not and 2) relying on the referee to make a call that, at best, doesn’t undo the injury anyway.
