Seeing Mason Williams, do we even need to put a priority on recruiting a PG for next season ?

Depends if he sticks with the next coach or not
Depends on a lot of things. Who is the coach? Who else on the team stays - is Wilkins back? Williams + Wilkins in a second year together is your starting backcourt and you go throw your money at starting forwards. What about Diallo? Looks bad so far but did put up decent numbers in the past. If Williams does what it looks like he can, not sure Diallo would be brought back at his NIL level or that he would want a 6th man type role.

Regular season hasn't started and we are worrying about what positions for next year. We dont even know who the coach will be next season or other variables like the poster above referenced.

I will say based on two exhibitions, Williams would make sense to be the guy if Pope is back. And thats not a certainty.

I’m investing in Williams and Wilkins if I’m the head coach as interchangeable combo guards, and putting the full court press on a stud 2G, and a serviceable guard or two, depending on how Morton pans out.

Then I’m going all in on the 4 and 5 spot… Feel free to disagree, but I’ve seen enough of Moreno to be the starting 5 next season. One of the phenomena of the NIL era, is it makes some of these guys with talent come back with entitlement and laziness. That’s Moreno for me.

He really hasn’t played much PG for UK in this exhibition season. Certainly did not last night. He fits so well at 2G, I think any PG recruit would love to be on the floor with him, assuming what we have seen is just a taste of what is to come.

Yes we do, we can never have enough ball handlers and play makers. Have you seen our luck the past 5 years. I’d love to have 3 starting PG caliber players at least.

it is bizarre how many point guards have been injured in two years.

And Williams isn’t a PG, but I was at the Texas game last year. He was just running down the court and all the sudden his foot was broken. How the **** did that even happen?

I wonder if his foot would be healthy if he would have just sat out the rest of the season.

It is bizarre, our luck is crazy bad. I still think Annabelle cursed us when she was shown at Rupp.

I mean let's roll with one point guard next year. Seems to be a good strategy. Especially if thay one guard gets injured.

Imagine if we got to play senior Trent Noah at pg next year. I say let's roll with Williams only or recruit a couoe guys with acl tears. Either one.

We’re set with Mason. He’s like Ulis out there.
I tend to agree with this

I want to see the whole season play out But we can’t allow our guards to shoot ad lobbing so much and not get the shots to Milo and Moreno. The offense has to run thru them first
