I wouldn’t read a lot into this. NU VB always draws a good tv audience compared to others.
volleyball is a very hot sport right now and viewership is up all over the country.
NU did a volleyball reseat in the arena this year after an update and increased seating to 10,200. The cost to attend a game is very expensive if you consider the seat donation required to get tickets. The reseat generated more than $15mil in donations to get seats. It has sold out every game for the last 15 years I believe. People pay a premium to get to go to games and those that can’t watch on tv. They have a national following so that just adds to it. The team is sells out all the road games as well.
Volleyball has surpassed girls basketball as the number one participant sport for girls. It’s growing and people enjoy the fast paced game and are now realizing how talented the girls are.
it’s a fun game on tv but even better in person.

I couldn't agree more. My daughter is 11 and recently got into volleyball. She's on a club team in NJ and we're starting to get a bit more serious about it. We've been watching any college game we can find on tv, and it's really awesome to watch. So fast pace, and the skill/talent level is off the charts. I've heard it's a growing sport, and I can absolutely see why.
We've been going to my local high school games, unsure of what to expect, and even the talent level there has been really awesome.

“Talent” is a good way to put it. 😉 It’s made for TV. Lots of nice things to see.

it's not about volleyball and you absolutely should read into this. 2 BIG schools in the middle of 18% of the country's population who collectively have over a 1mm alumni in region, drew just over 110k. This is beyond bad and should be a wake up call for the administration to act.

Well both suck and it was at 11 am and there were a ton of better options. MD is a basketball school and we are a…what are we mostly a _________ school? (Lacrosse? Men’s soccer? Wrestling?)

Womens volleyball should NEVER be drawing more viewers than a B1G football game, let alone 4x more. That is absurd
