OT: Sudden loss of a pet

It s amazing how these creatures absolutely touch our hearts to the point that when they're gone you're truly devastated. I know that their are many animals lovers on here and that can relate to the pain that l m feeling tonight.
My cat took a sudden turn in the last few days after being seemingly fine just a few ago. Her name was Nittany.

My cat took a sudden turn in the last few days after being seemingly fine just a few ago. Her name was Nittany.

Same thing happened to me with my cat Amos, got sick, and passed away in front of me. It hurts
and I'm sorry, they are our loyal friends.

Lost a male cat suddenly about 25 years ago. Vet told us that there is some issue with the femeral artery that can cause sudden trauma. In any event my heart felt condolences. I've put down my precious Puggle and a family cat of 18 years in addition to the cat I mentioned. It's devastating. I try to take solace in the belief that I somehow enriched the lives of those lovable critters as much as they did mine.

I m sorry for your loss...and yes they are very loyal friends. Cats have an incredible pain threshold and hold it away from us until they can't. The vet said that in 20 years of practicing veterinary medicine she often sees what we both experienced....it s both amazing and incredibly sad. Their small size belies their enormous strength.

We had a Tonkineese cat for 21 years (about 100 human years). One night she let out a slight gasp and died as my wife was holding her. It was her time. She had a good life and passed in the arms of one who loved her, but we miss her calming presence and the joy she brought us for over two decades.

You have my sincerest condolences. Losing a pet is really rough. They're with you all the time, and thoroughly dependent on you. Our dog is "my" dog, and I'm glad she's young and healthy, knock wood - I'd be devastated if she wasn't with us. We also have a cat (we call her a number of names, I call her Kitty Carlisle), and she gets seizures unless she takes medication, 3 times daily. If you love 'em, you do anything for 'em.

Gotta go brush the dog's teeth now!

Sorry for your loss. We have grand dogs and lost the older one several weeks ago. It's hard to describe the emotions you go through when thinking of them. Little Piper, a Boston Terrier would hop up on the couch and then my chest and lick my face with her little kisses. We wo;; always miss her.

I‘m so sorry for your very painful loss. Our pets love us completely, with no demands in return. They are simply the best. And beloved family members. We have lost 3 dogs and I know your heartbreak

Thank you for your kind words. I too am.sorry for your losses. I dealt with losses before with my pets, yet this one has hit me very hard. Maybe it s becauee of the place I m at in my life or maybe because she was my one constant these last 10 years through a difficult relationship. Again, thank you

I completely understand. Have lost many pets over my years. I have a 10 year old Border Collie who has begun to slowdown. At times I'll look at him and have to wipe away some tears. I've always thought dogs, in general, deserve a longer life span. This also applies to most cats.

Take care and some day find another pet to fill the current void.

You have my heart felt condolence. They give us more than we could ever give them. We lost our daughter’s rescue Cattle Dog mix in August. He was only 8. Out of the blue, after a walk he couldn’t move to get out of the car. Took him to ER vet…he was bleeding internally from small tumors in his liver that were never diagnosed. He went over the rainbow bridge that afternoon. We are still devastated. I’ll keep you in my prayers and please know we all know your sorrow and mourn with you.

So sorry to hear about your special kitty. The first time I went through it is still the saddest I’ve ever been, so I feel you. Luckily my parents are still with me and we all appear to be healthy under our roof.

My 7 year old Bengal doesn’t curl up with me often so when he gave me the chance last night I was happy to postpone bedtime to join him on the sofa downstairs for a bit, knowing we only get some many moments.
