Alston isn’t wanting to come off the bench that’s the point and reason he’s not considering uk anymore. Some guys would rather be the star than go work for a spot like Rippey chose to. Of course Rippey didn’t know foster and everyone would be back either.
If can play like his dad, he is more talented than zoom or wilkens

He may not be - and JBB may not be the best to play with Ngongba. JBB might be better playing the 4 on offense and 5 on defense. Rippey might be better off when they have shooters on the floor and he can drive and kick. Scheyer needs to play around with his rotations and see what works best. He has about 70 options.

As of now, the teams I like the most this year are Duke, UConn, Illinois and Texas with Miami & Texas Tech darkhorses. I think Florida is overrated, B- guard play and really not sure those bigs are THAT good.

Duke the most upside & talent.

Uconn the strongest, toughest.

Texas has a very good roster and good balance, and Miller is due.

Miami is also very good with Reneau back. TT will depend on how Toppin looks.
I agree there. JBB is the best player on that team and he’s a 2 year guy. He’s a 4 who can play 5. Heck of a get for them. He was gifted to them by team USA.

whiffing matters.....

CBS just release its top 101 players in college basketball. we have 2, milan at 17 and moreno at 49. the list reads like a whose who of failed HS recruits/portal transfers.

  • rob wright at 12
  • caleb holt at 23
  • kusturica at 78
any competent coach with the resources UK has to offer could have easily done better. oh what could have been...
We just watched Obinna reclass and look amazing against Kansas, he choose UofL over us… wonder why we can’t get him here? Hmmm

Dude, that settles it! You don’t know jack about recruiting, and I’m not wasting another second on you!

Moreno was never a 5, and Hampton literally dropped 25 spots the day after he signed!
Moreno was a composite 5 star and #1 or 2 center depending on site. Hampton was a 5 star for a year and a half then dropped once committed. All facts. Hampton also is a composite 5 star.

Pope has never landed a 5 star, and never will! Nothing false BS about that!

Just to set the record straight, Moreno was #25 and Jasper Johnson was 20th. 25 is the usual cutoff for 5-stars. Plus he got Quaintance, who was a clear 5-star. All of these commits had reasons to commit beyond Pope though, being from Kentucky or being injured.

as long as Pope is the coach there will be 5-7 teams in our own conference that on paper have more talent than us. hard to win when year after year we start the season behind the 8 ball.

That's never happened in popes 3 years here
That is a BS statement. All the good bigs were gone in year 1 one before he even got the job Year 2 he got Moreno who will be an NBA player next year. Year 3 was a total bust recruiting wise and if he repeats it this year he will probably be gone. You stupid agenda driven crap is not in line with facts ? go back under your bridge.

I’ll gladly take that whiff. Sophomore mason is better than a freshman Alston. Our main priority right now is 2 big types. Even more so if zoom and Alex stay 2 years as well as Mason.
Alot of ifs... If Pope could coach, it would not matter if Zoom, Alex or Mason stayed!

I’m afraid Popes only defense to save his job is the ol Kenny Payne strategy. Hope to strike it rich with some 5 stars and hope it gives him a stay of execution. Didn’t work for Payne. This team will 100% have more injuries and a minimum of 12 losses.

So much that Malone was going in hard, and Duke still got him when they had a 5* already at the 4 that they were willing to royally piss off. Effen bullshite.

Don’t give them too many facts, they’ll call you a Pope pumper😂😂😂
Pope was hired in the spring of 2024. I will grant it that year recruiting was almost over even though you could say you still had the May signing period and he should of had some connections from his recruiting at BYU. However, we will say that was a wash.
His first recruiting cycle would be his first year, which would be players that he played his second year. It was highlighted by Johnson and Moreno. In all honesty, it did not matter who the coach was, both of those kids where going to sign with UK because they were Kentucky kids with Kentucky connections. Other than that the recruiting was not good. Do we need to discuss the Caleb disaster? Year two would be this years players... Collins? Stokes- Paying a kid to visit that was already committed?, Being late for a visit and letting Louisville steal your spot? This Coach will not sign elite talent at a level that is required to be relevant in the SEC.

It is like the Barber says... NEXT!

As critical of Pope's recruiting as I have been I am not bothered by losing a kid to LSU. Those are the mercenaries that will get you nowhere.
