Is it conceivable that Kamario plays in 2028?...

There is a better than zero chance that MSU has K1 in 2021. He needs to play more than 4-5 games in a row without being injured.
Assuming he is at MSU next year, it would take a great season for both he & MSU in 2027 for him to be drafted in the 1st round in 2028.

Kamario seems to be injury prone, so we also need to invest in a quality backup quarterback to take over when he invariably goes down injured again.
Hard to say with such a small sample size. And turf toe is kind of a fluke injury. I think we've done a good job of protecting him this year. Sometimes things just happen. But the backup QB we bring in next year definitely HAS to fit Lebby's system (or one Lebby is willing to make minor adjustments for).

Yep. 27 should be it. Can't imagine NFL front offices and talent guys not drooling all over his arm talent, size, and age. Arms like his don't come around very often. Even if the production next year is "meh", he's still getting drafted in a decent round off potential.

Well, in your 'meh' scenario, it depends on the draft grade. Because if it's 3rd or 4th round or later, he'd make more money here.

That's exactly what happened with Chambliss at Ole Miss.

These NIL contracts are changing the game regarding players leaving early.

If he can't stay healthy next year, his NFL stock will take a hit.
Not much of one. have you seen a lot of guys starting in the NFL? They'll take Kamario in 1st round on talent alone, even if he does get injured next year. And I really don't think there's any reason to just assume he will get injured next year.

Yes, I think it is a long shot as the media has already crowned him but if he can't stay healthy in 27..........its possible.

Will he play at Mississippi State in 2028? I highly doubt it.

Not assuming he will be injured next year, but when you missed time in HS, broke a leg your freshman year of college, and turf toe this year tells me the chances are not 0. I agree he most likely will be a first rounder, but history of injury will 100% have an impact on his position.

Zero chance he returns in 2028. People projected as the sure-fire #1 in the NFL Draft don’t return to school. And that’s what he is going to be.

And we better be ready to dig deep to pay him in 2027. He will have the opportunity to cash in on the largest 1 year NIL deal in college football history.

He'll be a upper half 1st round pick.

He'll have a $30-$60M contract in the NFL in 2028. He's not staying in college a 4th year.
He’s not even your “typical” #1 in the draft kind of prospect. His athleticism and arm talent are a combination that only comes along once every 10+ years. He would be the #1 pick this year if he was eligible, even if he didn’t play another down. He’s a generational pro prospect.

You’re assuming nothing will change with NIL by then.

I think next year is it if he's going to be a first round draft pick. That's a minimum >$4M a year guaranteed for 4 years. That's assuming he's the last pick. Obviously it gets much better if he's earlier. But say he's projected late first round. We could offer him $8M a year for two years, with a free option for him to leave after the first year. So we'd be guaranteeing him $16M, and if he played well and moved up in the first round, he could get a better rookie deal. If he played worse, he could stay another year and pocket another $8M. But that would also delay him getting off his rookie deal. Just don't see him doing it although it wouldn't be a crazy risk if he really loved the college experience. He'd be guaranteed to be set for life and also would build a ton of good will in Mississippi for after his playing career. But it'd still be a pretty big gamble.

There are 15 qbs in the NFL making over $40M per year. So if he is basically in the top half of starters, he's going to blow away his college NIL (and his entire rookie contract excluding the 5th year option which is paid more if exercised) in the first year of his first big contract. Not guaranteed he will get there, but that is the upside he is giving up if he stays for 2027, is an extra year near the beginning of his career where he would be paid on a rookie scale rather than franchise qb scale.

I am shocked he is predicted at the top of the '28 draft.
I would be equally shocked if he is here in '28.

- If his draft stock stays high through '27, he should leave(even if NIL is a lot).
- If his draft stock slips through '27, he will leave and play elsewhere.

Yes he will. But Jones, Simmons, and Dak are all on record saying that they'll contribute whatever it takes to keep him here. I think we have the money side covered.
And I don’t think it’s going to be all about the money. If you’re thriving in Lebbys offense & projected to be a high 1st round pick do you really want to go play for Sarkesian for a year & get bumped down to the 7th round?

Whoever he is playing for next year is paying him to sit out now.

There are a few places that would throw cash around like that

Quicker you sign your rookie contract quicker its over and you can get some real money. If he is a projected top ten pick he would be wise to go. Then the Brodie McWhorter era begins....lol. Who ??
