Staff should be on the phone right away - guys like Elee (DE), Washington (QB), Williams (RB), Durr Jr. (WR) would all play here over guys we're currently rolling out there. There are a handful of guys in their '27 class I'd kick the tires on too - Sullivan (CB), McAfee (WR), Graham (PA kid and RB).
on the phone to whom? Maryland staff should be trying for a job. I dont believe our guys can contact anyone unless they are in the portal.

He obviously was a failure as a head coach. However, he has been a really good assistant coach and can recruit fairly well. He'll do well as an assistant for whatever team hires him.

You do don't contact players that are not in the portal. You contact someone close to them.

My thoughts....
  • AFAIK, CMC and Locksley haven't crossed paths much professionally
  • Regardless, maybe CMC would consider Locksley for some type of position to, at minimum, shore up east coast recruiting
  • OTOH, I'd guess Locksley would be looking for, at minimum, an OC job
  • CMC wouldn't be interested in that due to his loyalty to Mouser
  • In the extremely unlikely event Locksley lands at PSU in any capacity, it'd be a strange turn of events if Locks helped get PSU to a place where Franklin couldn't, given the reported animosity between them

I have no expectation that he'll end up at PSU under Campbell, but I wish that he would because he'd be a great recruiter at the very least. He was a really good o-coordinator under Saban at Bama, and that's probably his niche.

Great, now they’ll have a new coach that motivates them to play at their best for when we have to play them.

I could see that IF we were the "rally behind the coaches" game but its Illinois. Then they have to play Purdue, Wiscy and USC. They might be pretty demoralized by then.

Unless they win a couple of those and they’re playing to win to keep the interim as the guy.

That could always happen. I looked at their staff the other day after Locks fired their DC and I didn't recognize many names. The ones I did: Aazaar Abdul-Rahim is the interim guy. He's been there a long time and I remember him as being a really good WR for them.
Clint Ticket is their OC/QB coach and I recognize that name just don't know much about him.
The other name I was familiar with was Andre Powell. IIRC he was at Pitt for a good while.

Great recruiter? Did he ever get much talent even before NIL/pay for play took over? Yes, I know he has landed some high end talent over the years and I know Chop Robinson was there but overall I don't think of him as a great recruiter.

On the other hand I have serious doubts about Campbell and staff being able to build relationships in the DMV area so perhaps we go after Locksley for this.

Rumors flying around Charles Huff right now. Lets hope that's not true. Great guy with huge potential at this level.

Every time I watch a Maryland game, I always hear the announcers tell us about how talented his Marylands teams have been, but it just never translated onto the field.

In other news, Maryland gets renewed energy with its coaching change and beats Penn State for only the third time since 1966.

I might book that bet. Maybe it's 11/29 or 11/30, but most good candidates won't be available until the end of the season.

Same Andre Powell who played LB at PSU and then a year (or 2) with the NY Giants?

Well, since they did, I’ve read that you can’t keep the class no matter what , so we can expect some signings!

your mis remembering the wrong guy. Abdul-Rahim played defensive back for Mesa Community College from 1995 through 1996, before transferring to San Diego State. He played for the Aztecs from 1997 through 1999. Following his college career, he competed for the San Diego Riptide.[1]

The WR that played at MD was Azizuddin Abdur-Ra'oof, who played for KC Chiefs. I think Azziuddin may have had a job in the AD dept at MD at one time, although not sure.

No.....Andre Powell played LB at PSU until 1992, and then got drafted into NFL. Played a couple of years. Not Abdul-Rahim.
