If UNC can be pried away from Duke, the above scenario probably would add the most value from a TV revenue standpoint.

But, man, can you imagine the culture shock the first time a group of wine and cheese fans from UVA make the trip to a night game in Baton Rouge?

I’ve always felt like Kansas would fit into the expanded sec well. UVA just doesn’t fit with the SEC even though it makes sense geographically.

Washington DC TV market is big.
Yeah I get that. Probably the biggest, most opportunistic market on the table right now. Charlottesville would be a great game day trip for a lot of SEC fans and usually a win for most. I lived in Nova for almost five years and dc doesn’t care about college football, and really doesn’t care about uva. I’m not sure how much that really plays into it. A market is a market I suppose. TBH, va is valuable recruiting territory and I don’t want another sec school competing there.

Good market for MBB maybe?

It's not just the DC market, although that is important. Getting a flagship school also gets you Richmond, Norfolk and all of the rest of Virginia (about 9 million population), just like UNC gains you RDH, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and all of that state (over 11 million). And, come basketball season, it gains you two legitimate title condenders that would attract viewers nationwide. It doesn't hurt that it maintains geographic continuity (they are, technically, southern states), even if they don't fit the culture of the SEC.

Very few on Virginia care that much about UVA football and almost no one in DC.
You cant even find it on a radio station in Virginia.

I don't believe the SEC wouldn't be salivating over FSU or Miami.

We should hope Clemson can get in to give us some schedule relief. Although, that may not be as much of an issue, with the CFP becoming a "come on, come all" affair.

I think the difference in scheduling is negligible compared to the downsides of another in state sec team.
