Fair play... Breese is always tough to gauge. Someone will try and tell us Carterville is actually good for once, like they do every year. Honestly Rochester getting the Jax/Cahokia likely winner is much tougher than SHG is all I was really getting at. Kind of like how BC beat Calhoun in a classic, to get the 1 seed in 1A and their reward was CPC or GNW whilst Calhoun gets... probably ALAH... come on man! :ROFLMAO:

And no... not even thinking about Centralia yet. Bethalto CM beat us last time we played them. First things first...
Eh - Breese Central had Rochester on the ropes last year and should have won. Centralia will also be a challenge. Cahokia can battle. I think 4A South is a tough one to get out of....

Unfortunately, I don't think United Township will make it out of the opening round. Champaign Central should roll through the opening round and against Kennedy given their level of competition. Just too physical upfront for UT I think.

I think Central got a great draw until they run into Naz.
Ok, I am not real familiar with Champaign Central, or their conference. Given UT's lack of defensive capabilities I wouldn't be surprised if anyone they play lights up the scoreboard.

Historically speaking, you're dead wrong.

As a fan of the sport, I'm on your side.

Only game of interest in the top half of 4A south is Metamora/SHG... Many years I'd say QND/Centralia might be must see football, Idk if the Raiders have the dogs this year though. No one else will even stay within 2 scores of SHG likely outside of Metamora. I'll throw Centralia in there as the 1 seed and as a way outside chance. But they've played cupcakes all year compared to the Cyclones. They haven't seen that size and speed this season, imo. The Breese win is notable, sure, but I don't think Breese gives Rochester a game this year like they did last time. Not with this version.

Cahokia/Rochester/Jacksonville maybe give an interesting sub plot in the bottom half... Jax has a knack for never showing up in the playoffs. Although this year's team is much stronger than most. Cahokia... I'm not sold on. I saw the film of them struggling with MTZ early this year. Saw the tape of them losing to Metamora. The only decent wins they boast is honestly that MTZ and maybe Highland. Rochester is on a level similar to Morris, maybe just a notch below this year we shall see. Regardless, we saw how Cahokia handled a well coached football team in Morris last week... not so well.

I think LW-East got a bad draw. Really hope LW-East can beat Mount Carmel this year but it will take an incredible game plan to do so. I think this quarter final match-up will be a lot closer then last years game though.

They play in the Big 12, which includes Normal Community (#5 in the 7A media poll) and Normal West (#2 in 6A). They played both, and neither game was close, but the rest of the conference is pretty down this year.

They also played Mahomet, who's ranked #1 in 5A, and got clocked. So, they've played some solid competition, but haven't really beaten anyone I'd consider great. Their five wins came against two winless teams, a 3-5 team, and two 4-5 teams.

Offensively, they play bully ball. They had 56 rushing attempts last Friday, but they can air it out when needed. Their QB is still pretty green and makes mistakes, though. I'd imagine they'll try to line up, establish the run, and take some shots downfield with a few of their athletes.

Rita landed on a favorable side of the bracket and has a realistic shot at returning to the championship. A second-round showdown with DGN would be a great matchup, and Hersey could be waiting in the semifinals. Given Rita's track record against Mid-Suburban East teams in recent years, the draw sets up well for them.

Rita's first game will likely be Buffalo Grove who lost badly to Hersey, 49-14. It will be a measuring stick to how they might match up with Hersey in the semis. Really curious to see how they do against DGN, assuming they play in round 2. If they beat them similar to how they beat Hersey and Batavia last year then I like their chances of beating Hersey and getting back to State. I don't think they will match up well vs BR or ESL but we'll talk about that in a month after this all plays out.
