What I can’t get past is the fact that our 2nd string QB had open heart surgery in the last year. I’m no doctor, but on the surface, that sounds down right crazy. Football isn’t ping pong or darts. Wonder if that’s why they insist on not playing him.

Even if they put him in, in this litigious world we live in, I can’t get past the fact that this would be a major law suit waiting to happen.

This Program just seems like we’ve totally fvcked it up now from top to bottom it’s almost comical.

Lawsuit against whom? The coaching Staff? The kid's doctor? The team doctor?

I am sure, if he is practicing without limits, that he has been cleared to play. I doubt the surgery history has anything to do with the back up QB not playing. We can only guess that what is shown in practice has not compelled the coach to make the switch.

That was the pre season quote. Looks like you found a way coach. Winning is not important obviously. I mean "globally" 😂
Let's see. I am a Big Ten coach at a blue blood program for my first year. I am making 8 million per. I have a rabid fan base that turns out 100K for a game and my family is trying to acclimate to a new college town and football setting. I am relatively young and ambitious or I wouldn't be here. I have a boss (AD) that is under enormous pressure as well. I have a coaching staff whose own personal fortunes and career path depend on me and my success. I have 100+ players who are competitive by nature and work very hard to win and maybe get a shot at a professional career. But I don't' value winning? Please.

For every Chesney, Sitake or Cignetti there is a Dan Lanning, Steve Sarkisian and Mike Norvell. Sometimes the hand you are dealt are not winning hands. Sometimes the choices you make don't pan out. Dan Lanning had two 5 star qb's with experience in his QB room and he can't get consistent play out of the position. Is he solely to blame for that?

Coaches deserve time to get things right. CMC wants to win. With time we will see if he can figure a way how to attain the success I am sure he is seeking.

There needs to be $$$ to go get some players next year. We have a couple of difference makers at WR....none at RB that we have seen. Our DBs our good and we have 1 LB. Need to restock DL, LB, OL, RB, QB.............. The "brand new" stadium will start to look like Univ. of Washington in another year or two with the lack of excitement generated by another year of this type of football.

Kentucky, Indiana put money on the table and changed there course immediately. We can get the money, we still have a brand that can sell......go and get some Jimmy and Joes.........

We need to understand that the portal door swings both ways. Money is needed to keep and acquire.

Kentucky did not put as much money as we did.

You would think that what they have seen in games would compel them to make the switch,
True...which should tell you how practice is going
Look how long it took Michigan to make a move when Carr was doing well in practice and Underwood doesn't have a tenth of Rocco's resume

I am sure koby howard has a lot of talent and could be a star, but its disturbing that a guy who has had two good games against minor league teams is the number one priority for penn state to keep....
I remember last year's highest priority was chaz coleman. He might be available cheep right now...

The fact that the new D Coordinator from Tenn wanted Coleman tells you that he is a player. The other 3 players who went to Tenn are playing really well.

Manske played in all 3 games to start the season. He was obviously cleared to play. And the doctors dont care if he would be going against a high school team or the 85 Bears. He was cleared. He is dressed every game so he isnt hurt.

Seems like #2 is a #2 for a reason. "You don't want to see Manske."

"We're not going to be able to keep him off the field this year," Campbell said. "He's forced us to have to play him. He's been really good, especially going through what he did."

Campbell confirmed Mouser's sentiment that he would play Saturday.

"Alex has deserved the right to be able to get on the field," Campbell said.

Mouser needs to go back to high school coaching. After his scripted plays on the first series, we reverted back to the same old nonsense.

My favorite is Mouser’s automatic slow RB up the middle on first down inside the red zone for no gain.

A predictable wasted down that led to settling for a field goal.

I'm confident that he will play this Saturday and look like a Heisman candidate.

Mouser's game management has left a LOT to be desired. Saturday was probably the worst day of his brief PSU career.

And, to be fair, one REALLY has to question D Lynn's schematics - particularly against the run game.
No team - even one with as little apparent defensive talent as PSU in the front 7, should be so consistently ripped by teams with lousy and/or underperforming ground games.

I think Lynn's done a great job with what he has to work with. There's nothing wrong with the run schemes. But we have no talent at Defensive End and only one good linebacker.

I believe Lynn to be the more disappointing than Mouser and that’s saying something. He does not adapt at all.

I think both coordinators have sleep walked this season. I think Mouser has zero feel for the game and Lynn’s in game adjustments are slow. I know they’re not working with superstars but how do other programs do more with much less? It’s stunning how loyalty and salaries seem to dictate playing time. Wittingham had no problem pulling his multi million dollar QB after a half.

So the $6 million dollar Michigan man can get benched, and Arch might get benched. But CMC isn't holding our qb's feet to the fire ?

QMs pop , (possibly account is QM Sr with a few pics, can't confirm it though), is chirping.......
QM SR. since deleted post:
This kid is just not good, 5yrs in college and he tries to throw to the far hash, he doesn’t have the arm strength, the height(why alot of his throws get batted down at the line)and sad to say doesn’t have the IQ. He just isn’t it. Oh and BTW my son only got 2 carries yesterday
For fun, sit him next to Becht's dad at the football banquet....man AB is getting roasted hard in the comments....

I'm not so sure about that. Howard is about to get paid, We also have some DB's that we will have to open the check book for.
In comparison to stacked teams........ we do not have many must keep guys. DBs - yes. some of the OL - Yes. A couple of WRs yes. TEs - Yes.

It's easy to rip on the coaches- this team has no talent; that's the core issue.

It's easy to rip the coaches when you go the length of the field by playing spread but then with goal to go, you go heavy for three straight runs yielding 3 yards? And not one friggin lob pass to your 6'7 TE? Easy to rip the coaches when NW is gashing the D with runs right up the middle but you never stack the box? Becht's passes are constantly batted down but you don't roll the pocket until the next game? I mean what the hell are we doing here? Underwood gets replaced, Manning will probably be replaced, but Becht has to play every snap? The talent is mediocre especially after injuries to Granville and Howard, but come on the play calls, the player usage, the lack of in-game adjustments, the unnecessary timeouts, all speak to there being something very, very wrong with the coaching.
