There are parts of this that are completely reasonable.

But if you really believe this, the coaching staff will never be questioned, as its always the players fault for not being successful.
Of course coaching failures happen and should be ‘questioned’ to say the least when they do, ie the Holtz donut defense, the spurrier alternating qbs, whammy, Shula, etc; ‘coaching’ that does not put the players in a position to win. But the implication was that ‘coaching’ was at fault exclusively and that the team lost the three games they lost so far because the coaches did not have them ‘ready’, which is false. They were put in position to win two of those games.

Certainly, those would have been nice to have. However, it seemed clear to me that Sellers has had to get his groove back in live action after dealing with the Shula offense and that hopefully seems to be coming around now.

A little over a week ago, the sea of BOTs on this board like Lurker123 were calling for Sellers to be benched, transfer, etc.

A week later it's dawning on those same knuckleheads that we have one of the best offenses in the SEC and Sellers stats are better than Arch Manning at the current moment.

Hopefully, we'll see continuation some continuation on Saturday. If we find a way to beat UT on the heels of that big UF win, I think it would be safe to say past sins have been reconciled.
What's lost is lost forever. What has already been lost is sufficient to reclassify the level of success of this season. This will only be appreciated in retrospect by the analytical.

92.

And it can go the other way as well; can’t remember the season but under spurrier we were ranked no 6 at the halfway point and goose egged the rest of the games.
Is that the season when we won at Chapel Hill, reached #6, and then lost to Vandy 29-0 or something?

If it would otherwise mean to hold them accountable for execution errors, ie Sellers in Miss st game, corners in the Kentucky game, Arch in the Florida game yesterday, Gunner in the Auburn game yesterday then yes, they’re off the hook. We don’t go praising Beamer or Briles when Sellers threads the eye of a needle, do we; breaks off a 75 yard run? When Fuller breaks a tackle and pushes a scrum for a first down? They know what to do, they are coached to win and they CAN win, but they have to do it.
Here's my way of looking at it, and I believe it prevails in business as I experienced it over a 39-year career. When stuff messes up, ownership (or upper management) goes to where the buck stops at the operational level. If people are screwing up systematically, you go to the bosses. That's the pressure point and you don't deviate from it. They are both employed and paid to take that heat, preempt snafus, and correct them quickly when they occur - or else. Never take your foot off the managers' throats, only modulate the pressure according to specific circumstances.

Yes it was and that Vandy game was the starting point of the slide. First game that spurrier decided to have qbs alternate possessions, which was a disaster. Brilliant offensive strategist but consistently demonstrated a lack of understanding and awareness in a couple of other areas.

Bobby Johnson outcoached the HBC. Steve was known for laying a egg or two at UF as well.

SOS was a great coach, of course. Not too many coaches in the history of the game changed how it was played. He is one of the few.

But when you look back, it's kind of surprising with all their talent that he only won a single title at UF.

And they were not undefeated that year. But did avenge their lone loss for the title.

Agree but that's our situation and the situation of most every team -- including those in the SEC. Even those exclusive 3 years in the of the program could been viewed through this lens. Half-empty/full.

Still believe this is one of the best staffs we've ever had that the numbers back that up. When you tune in, you know there's likely going to be a very entertaining game in front of you. We haven't always had that luxury.

I'm only concerned with ONE team, which is the one with two home SEC losses already and a staff that didn't even think to call a timeout to set a defense when Kentucky was going for two (which won them the game). So, no.

Did you have us winning big at UF?

True, I forgot about that. That's a bit of sports trivia: Steve Spurrier never had an undefeated season as a coach. Those UF teams were so ridiculously stacked, it's kind of hard to believe.

There were always a few teams that matched up with UF. FSU had some incredible teams with exceptional speed as well as UTen in some of those seasons (Peyton). Those were the BCS days where there were only 2 teams that played for the title.
I used to love it when Bowden or Phat Phil beat Steve.
There were some QBs who would not play for Steve because of the way he treated his QBs.
