Best opening round games

What opening round games could be surprisingly good? Or which games will you be keeping an eye on? Here's what I got.

-Niles ND/Maine West are only 6 miles apart. Likely a lot of neighborhood kids playing against each other.
-Reed Custer/Stillman Valley
-Althoff/Harrisburg could be a shootout
-Evanston/ Minooka
-Joliet Central/Lane will likely go check this one out or Minooka/Evanston

I would add Warren/Naperville Central to this.

I don't think Niles ND will have much trouble with Maine West, but yes the schools are fairly close to each other.

In 3A, I'll go Sparta vs Mater Dei...If Sparta's line holds up, that one could be a track meet
In 5A, I'll take Mascoutah vs Washington in another potential track meet

Althoff is hard to figure out, but I expect them to roll Harrisburg

Whenever Im out this way I stop and get a Pequods.

I was taking a long hard look at that Reavis/Elgin game and cant figure out who should be favored.

Lane beat a decent Shepard team & lost a tight game to DePaul who beat Richards & King who beat St.Laurence. Joliet Central beat 3 teams with a combined 2 wins by a total of 9 points. 3,5 & 1 respectively. So Lame(because of the nickname change) could running clock them but doubtful but Steelmen may surprise

Whenever I reffed at Reavis I would stop at Nonna's Pizza - $3.99 for a slice and soda. The "slice" was a quarter of an extra large pie and while not the best in the world, there was grape Nehi in the soda fountain!

I have no clue who wins this game but the Upstate is just as bad, if not worse than the SSC Red.

Could pass as a house. Downtown MG is an under appreciated spot.
If you were in the wrong place you may have been in the Bringer Inn. The Bringer is my favorite spot in MG. No matter what CB you will like all 3 spots. Avoid Moretti’s on Dempster.

It’s still good. Burt Katz started Gullivers, Pequods and Burt’s. Some suits bought Burt’s but they’ve done a good job. I love my thin crust but… when I need my pan fix I go Lou’s , Pequods, or Burt’s.

The Stillman / Reed-Custer game was apparently a barn burner. Stillman came from behind to score with no time remaining and win 32-31

Bones was right. Reavis Rams beat Elgin in a great game. Yeah ESL awaits to get a running clock revenge from 1982 but still nice win. Lame Tech destroyed Joliet Central which another poster said would happen

I was at Warren/Naperville Central last night. Good game, Naperville Central made plays late to hold the lead and win. The running back (actually, two of the running backs) for Warren had some impressive runs.

Likely sticking to my plan of Rich Township @ Niles North then Maine West @ Niles ND today. Not sure what to expect in the first one, but I'm assuming ND should be fine against MW.
