At this pace, how long can we expect to keep Stein?

Build a bigger stadium? 6 wins in? Man I am excited too but come on lol
We 100% need more seats. This stadium is too small if you’re going to win in the SEC. Barnhart was stupid for removing seats and not upgrading them. All other sec programs make it as big as possible but UK. And it shows you that Barnhart had no ambitions to make winning such a priority that we’d ever need more capacity.

One of the first thing stein will want is upgrades to the stadium and capacity. Watch.

I think Stein wants to make his legacy here at UK. The guy says, "Go Cats," concluded his interviews. This is home. Stein shares a cool bond with his Dad through the program.
So long as the University provides resources I think he sticks around.

Troll invitation thread for a football team that is #15 and 5-1 with two SEC road wins and 2 top 10
Haha, y’all are living in fantasy land if you don’t think Stein would leave UK for a Texas, Michigan, Ohio St., type job!

NIL is the new sheriff in town, and if Calipari can get more BB NIL than UK at a place like Arkansas, then Stein would salivate at the prospect of getting the NIL backing of a program like those aforementioned 3 (and several others)!

Put another way… Would any of you stay in Cincinnati with the Reds, if the Yankees or Dodgers came calling? Absolutely NOT, you wouldn’t!
It depends. Did I grow up a Reds fan? Did my dad play for the Reds? Am I from the Cincinnati area? Can I win with the Reds? Am I paid very well to coach the Reds?

How much capacity? I saw someone talking about comparable to top SEC schools, and we can't fill a 100K seat stadium consistently

You don't know that. We just sold out against a garbage bin Vandy team. Build it and they will come, just win.
LMAO. An extra 40K a night? And what about when Stein leaves in a couple of years?
We are long overdue a new stadium, but people are going way overboard right now

It’s a new era. You only leave if you think you won’t have the resources to win. Clark Lea could have left for PennState last year or some other job that is traditionally much better than Vandy, but he instead signed an extension and told his potential suitors to look elsewhere. Cignetti is another example. You don’t have to move to another school, so long as the one you are at will resource your goals.

I posted something earlier, but I started like researching Will Stein and his connections to UK into the football program obviously through his dad. But he went to Trinity and played at Louisville. I mean to me he sounds like a Louisville guy. If he truly is UK guy like you really grew up UK fan and played at Louisville because he had to or whatever. That’s what it comes down to. If he’s a big fan of Kentucky athletics, he probably won’t leave until he wins a championship. NFL jobs college jobs diamond dozen likelihood of having no NFL experience and going to the NFL and being great are very low.. There’s no doubt that the lifespan of a coach in the NFL is much shorter because NFL teams pull the trigger fast and then at that point you’re either gonna be a lifer in the NFL or you’re still the head coach at Kentucky.

The guy is like 36 or 37 people are talking like he’s in his 50s. He could have three different big-time careers, three different places for all anybody knows.. I don’t think expecting him to retire at Kentucky is a good expectation at all. But there’s just that element that of how much does he love Kentucky the university? If he wanted to play Kentucky and couldn’t grew up envisioning himself playing for Kentucky or coaching, Kentucky like he said when he was hired, he said he would envision himself coaching Kentucky. If he loves Kentucky, he’ll be around a long time as long as he’s as advertised thus far. I think that being that he’s the son of a former player, I think you’ll have a lot of former players former coaches former AD in the ears of whoever the athletic director is at the time when it’s time to pay this man. From what I understand he took like 1.5mil to coach this year. I mean, that’s what was put out when he was hired. I don’t know what his contract looks like, but I know there’s gonna be a ton of room and if the guy loves Kentucky and Kentucky is his boyhood dream Well all Kentucky has to do is pay him and he has no reason to go anywhere.. NFL’s a different story but he has no NFL experience. And it’s a different animal, and it will change him as a coach. Possibly not for the better.

You are such an infant.
Well ron, let’s go ask Texas right now if they’d rather have sark or stein?? What about Penn st? There’s no chance they’d keep Campbell over stein?? FSU, Michigan, I’d even put USC in that category cause this is the first year in about 10 they’ve been relevant. So yeah, it’s a discussion that many adults on RR can have without name calling each other.
“Don’t post ever again” and the “dumb” comment just shows exactly that you’re incapable of having a conversation in an adult manner. If you need to resort to name calling, then you lose all credibility as all adults know. You’re not the RR police and final say of what can and cannot be discussed pops so either add to the discussion or just shut up. You’re definitely the “get off my lawn” old man and the guy that has his leaf blower out cause your neighbors left 1 blade of grass in the road after mowing their lawn.
It’s funny how you name call people over this topic when KSR just talked about it last week, you know the guys that get paid to discuss uk sports & have for 20 yrs?? Not to mention NFL HOF Qb Steve young just said this on game day this past Saturday so if you want to keep acting like a child then you’ll get treated as such or you can grow up and be an adult and be treated like an adult.

Stein has done a great job, no doubt. Love him as HC. He is smart and knows he is a TD and 3 2 Pt conversions from being 3-4. Keep the head down and ignore the incessant clutter that seeks distraction.

If the Cats like Stein and he likes it here, I do not see him leaving for greener pastures like coaches would do in the past. With NIL why would someone have to leave? Just like the basketball team found out with Cal left coaches do not need to go to a blue blood anymore to win big. They can win big anywhere. See Indiana in Football.

JB needs to start if he hasn't already putting a package together to keep Stein. No lifetime contract obviously. But certainly a pay increase for him and his staff. Maybe some investments in upgrading facilities and increasing NIL.

Michigan is going to be looking for a coach. Florida St might be ready to get rid of Norvell. DeBoer could be on shaky ground with Bama. He's definitely going to be getting some inquiries. I'd like to think his love of UK and BBN plays a role that he's going to stay. With NIL and the transfer portal you can build a winner anywhere, just look at IU. No outrageous expectations at UK.

We can thank Joker for him not playing at UK lol. I think Joker and his dad were roommates at Uk at one time. Also with his current contract he took less money because he wanted a bigger pool for his assistants. That allowed him to have all these extra hands. So id imagine Batt is going to have to increase both dramtically very soon

I was about to say look at Cignetti. He renegotiate his deal and said why would I leave if I can win here. I like what NIL has done for football

Louisville guy? His dad played at UK, season ticket holders, grew up Saturdays at commonwealth stadium. It's well known he only went to UL due to not being given a shot at UK. Pictures are everywhere of him in UK stuff, at games, decked out in football gear as a baby, family alumni. Why would you think because he went to Trinity that means anything. Literally has nothing to do with preferences, those are sports decisions to many.

Stein is 100% not a lousville guy. He grew up caring nothing about the NFL or lousville, he grew up wanting to play for Kentucky. I don't know what you mean sounds like a lousville guy.

Stoops did not have one. That is just an exaggeration many have treated as factual. It was a long contract with performance goals that would have let him coach here as long as he wanted providing those goals were met. At the point it was signed he was coming off his second 10 win season in 4 years was 4-0 and we were ranked #7.

You can bet your *** that most of those schools will think they can just snap their fingers, throw out cash & Stein will come running to take the job, the funny part is when he turns them down lol. 🤣🤣
I am so happy to have someone to coach who said at the very start if recruits want to talk money the first thing he didn't want them, he wanted players that wanted to win.. and I think that is playing out very well. Now I suspect that the same thing will apply to him if all he wanted was money he would probably be ready to move on.. but I don't have the feeling that he will.

Me either. And if he does leave then that means we had massive success. But I don’t see him leaving as long as we continue to invest in football. He’s living a dream.

Agree. Most (including Steve Young) think an NFL job offer is inevitable at some point for Stein. My specific concern is with Zac Taylor's seat warm, Cincinnati might be in a position to offer Will an NFL job close to home/family in a year or few. Good thing is he can make more money as the UK Head Football coach than as the Bengals HC. If a larger market team (say Washington for example) who pays $10M+ to the HFC calls though that will be tough to compete with.

At this point, the more I think about it ...

If Will Stein continues to do this well, and keeps improving what he has at Kentucky.... if he can take this program to the CFP.... shock the world, win a title?!?!? At some point here at kentucky, at ANY POINT ?

Hell, I can see him staying right here, we will pay and do everything we can to keep him happy and content, and he will build our program up and put his name at the very top for all time as far as greatest coaches at KENTUCKY.

He can stay and make himself a legend, and set a standard of excellence that would last forever in the history of football. They'd build a statue of him in front of the stadium at some point. Bring a title home to Kentucky? Hell yeah!

Why not stay at Kentucky and go down in history like that?

So I dunno. He could leave for a pro teram or nother college team. But why not STAY AT KENTUCKY?

Food for thought
