Oops, thought the second Cary-Grove game was less competitive. The fact remains that they basically got wrecked by Fenwick last year.Defeated decisively? The scores of the 2 CG/ESL games were 37-36 and 23-20.

It also matters who they play in the regular season. With the conference they play, they get five automatic wins every year. You want big picture, ESL has the most wins in state history.
IHSA also breaks down teams based on how far they've gone in the playoffs.

Ok we wrecked the two team you called eliteOops, thought the second Cary-Grove game was less competitive. The fact remains that they basically got wrecked by Fenwick last year.
They haven't played in the same conference for 100 years. It also matters who they play in the regular season. With the conference they play, they get five automatic wins every year.
These young men need a Illinois football history lesson ASAPAhhhhh , it must be playoff time! Tis the season to start slinging arrows at the Flyers![]()
Yes you do. Stop with the passive aggressive posts. I forgot what the last post was about in the previous TOUTT, but it was similar. Now you dont know if esl is an elite hs program? Hard to take someone serious who would say that out loud.I don't mean to knock your team, but at some point, isn't it fair to ask why they don't consistently win class 6?
He's trolling. Theres no other explanation.Defeated decisively? The scores of the 2 CG/ESL games were 37-36 and 23-20.
Just FYI, loyola is an 8a school. Can you use an example of a school playing up 1 or 2 classes who would be able to be as successful as esl? That would be an apt comparison.Had Loyola played in 6A, they would've won every year without any trouble.
Loyola has many finals losses (I remember a year on this board when some nutjob was arguing that Holecek had a lousy playoff record!) Were they in 6A (with ESL) they might have 1 or 2 titles less than they have now. For most of the last 15 years LA and MC have been peers, but with the athletes MC is currently putting on the field, they are moving into ESL territory (national schedule, regional all-stars). LA is playing the same game with the same athletes it always has in the Holecek era. I’m unsure they will attempt to keep up.Had Loyola played in 6A, they would've won every year without any trouble.
Someone do a wellness check on him. He doesn't have a CCL team at #1 so he may have a gun to his head.MOB has
1. LWE
2. LA
3. Rice
4. MC
Considering the one time they played LA didn’t score an offensive touchdown, using your logic ESL would be 6 time state champs if they had to play LA in the 6A championship. We all know LA is a great program and team. They won 8a that same year.Had Loyola played in 6A, they would've won every year without any trouble.
All private schools play up 1-2 classes.Just FYI, loyola is an 8a school. Can you use an example of a school playing up 1 or 2 classes who would be able to be as successful as esl? That would be an apt comparison.
All private schools petition up to play 1 or 2 classes above their ihsa enrollments? All private schools play up 1-2 classes.
No they don't. The multiplier is part of the classification system. All private schools play up 1-2 classes.
Where is the vitriol?Folks,
I'm fairly new to posting on this board, and I didn't anticipate the vitriol I would receive for implying that East St. Louis football is anything less than the reincarnation of the '85 Bears. I have them ranked 3rd out of roughly 500 schools in Illinois that play 11-man football. Does it sound like I don't believe they're a good team? They're a great program, and their accomplishments are made all the more impressive by the adversity many of their players overcome to excel at football. My objective in life is never to cause offense, and if I have done so, I apologize. That being said, this board is all about opinions on football, and every day, I read opinions with which I disagree, but I never get nearly this worked-up about it.
Everyone sounds really angry to me. Am I reading too much into it?Where is the vitriol?

Differing opinions are definitely encouraged, but when you question how elite the winningest program in state history is you're gonna get some pushback.3. East St. Louis
Are they actually an elite program? Half the time, they steamroll their bracket, and half the time, they get upset by a much less talented school.
That not what I said....its definitely levels to this **** lol. FYI Warren has not won **** they no different than simeon or LarryI think its fair game. One of those ESL fellas a couple weeks ago said The Beloved hadn't had a quality win in years when we beat Warren last year, meanwhile ESL was playing Simeon in the quarter finals and St Laurence in the semis. Theres definitely levels here.
Its cool... you simply don't know illinois football. Do a little research before you speak on things. Google is great lolFolks,

Warren would have clocked both Simeon and Larry. Its easy to win when Simeon is the toughest team you play before the championship. That not what I said....its definitely levels to this **** lol. FYI Warren has won **** they no different than simeon or Larry
East St. Louis is a non boundary school...Just FYI, loyola is an 8a school. Can you use an example of a school playing up 1 or 2 classes who would be able to be as successful as esl? That would be an apt comparison.
MC had its chances but couldn’t overcome the fumble and pick in the 4th. Gotta give East St. Louis credit for making them pay and getting the W. I’m just glad Loyola didn’t get screwed this year and has a shot at making it to the championship. After seeing both teams up close, I think BR matches up pretty well with ESL. MC will expose LWE very soon...ESL dominated them in the fourth quarter. It’s fine, it happens to everyone once every two decades.
They would beat Bishop Gorman at ISU with SWC refs...We beat them.... so what's your criteria?
And teams that rank in the top 10 nationally on a consistent basis. It also matters who they play in the regular season. With the conference they play, they get five automatic wins every year.
Including the year Flyer blanked them 35-0? They won 8A then.Had Loyola played in 6A, they would've won every year without any trouble.
Makes sense, I guess that’s why MC won at ISU and at home. So it does matter and it isn’t about discipline. Got it. lolThey would beat Bishop Gorman at ISU with SWC refs...

You guys are already in Mid-Off-Season form with your "who's best?" argument. The ESL hate is awesome. You guys are funny every season
