Well when you were the clear odds on favorite for Gold, I think a 'good shot' at Bronze makes sense.Do or die day for Luke. The guy who beat him is really hard to score against. Luke did a lot better than the other guys he beat to get to the finals. I think Luke has a good shot at winning the bronze.
In general I agree with you on the number of shots he takes, but his Finals match was different. He hit that beautiful high crotch for two, but on the other side of the coin, it was off of his own shot that he lost the "step out" point to go down on criteria, ultimately costing him the match. I may be way off on this, but on that step out point it almost looked like he was thinking of the old grounded rules. It looked like he could have just waited for the position to be called dead. Overall, an outstanding tournament for an eighteen-year-old among grown men.I think that was the talk during the U20 tournament where he beat PJ but I’m not sure. I’ve it heard both ways
Tough loss for James. He’s obviously right there. I think he needs to just take a real shot from time to time. He gets in the habit of just taking half shots to create action where his feel almost always wins out but against top guys they can shut it down. Still, he’s had an incredible year especially for an 18 year old
He did wrestle better. However, discussing why Luke looked tired and downright gassed at the end is allowed to be a conversation.Just catching up on the Luke angst. The cut? A bug? Bad taco?
Old school old guy, I like “for those six minutes, an opponent picked for his national team wrestled better than Luke.”![]()
What mat and match # is Luke ?Luke wins 5-0 he will wrestle for Bronze at 4pm ET
He will be on Mat B, the first mat, 1st match, number 767. In ten minutes. What mat and match # is Luke ?
Now on BWhat mat and match # is Luke ?
Would have been good if someone told him the match startedNow on B
Agree. Something was just off this tournament with Luke. Blessing in disguise if he takes advantage of improving which I’m sure he willDamn. Weird tournament from LL. I don’t think it’s a weight issue but who knows. He definitely didn’t look like himself
Luke lost the hand fight in both matches he lost. Square on forehead to forehead and he couldn't score from that position.Luke gets beat 7-2 by Katsume Japan. He just seemed off he wasn't moving well and didn't seem to have much pop. Just an off event for him which we have never seen.
So why didn't mitch go instead of Sealey then?Selection committee originally said Duke at 70kg and Mitch at 79kg but were met with “too much Penn State” backlash.
I assume when they started soliciting for a replacement Mitch figured he didn’t have adequate time to prep.So why didn't mitch go instead of Sealey then?
Taking Sealey was definitely odd since his first match at 174 was this weekend. But the late scratch probably took any NCAA starters out of the equationI assume when they started soliciting for a replacement Mitch figured he didn’t have adequate time to prep.
Was TR a part of that committee?Selection committee originally said Duke at 70kg and Mitch at 79kg but were met with “too much Penn State” backlash.
