ND is a better football team than every single team Kentucky has played.
First, Rudy was trash. I hate that movie.
Second, Wisconsin is winning at minimum 8 games. And even if they don't, ND doesn't hang off o
ND has been in the playoffs more than anyone in the SEC outside of UGA and Alabama. In order to get there, they had to win big games over the season. Everyone likes to throw out how many pros play in the SEC. Well guess what? ND is top 5 in produce pro football players over anytime frame you want to use. ND also played Boise St last year and they were a nobody according to everyone. Oregon plays Boise this year and all of a sudden that's a tough OOC game. Make it make sense. Everyone is getting beat up in every conference but the SEC people act like their players are the only ones that are getting hurt. Do people even know football?
Maybe honest opinions will simply disagree on this.
It's not that N.D. has not beaten good teams throughout the years to get into a position to finish highly. The last actual title is 1988 though..... that's an Awfully LONG TIME FOR AN ELITE PROGRAM TO GO WITHOUT WINNING A SINGLE TITLE.
oops sorry, caps lock. my bad
I think the discrepancy I see, and maybe I am wrong, but it seems like, looking at the ranked teams and who they were that particular year, comparing the overall schedule of teams they played in all of those years, the overall quality and quantity of opponents simply does not match wthe top toi bottom quality and quantity of weekly opponents that play against each other in the SEC.
That's all. Just my personal observation. I dunno if that can make sense to anyoine. Go back and look at all the schedules and crunch the numbers.
Yes, ND has been to more playoff games than anyone but bama and georgia. Bama won 3, 4 titles ? Georgia twice ? LSU once? none for notre dame in the same time.
Have they beaten SEC teams in the post season as well as bowls ?
sure they have. even some of the best in that year, I am sure.
Pro players galore..... why didn't they win more titles instead of coming up short .... for nearly 40 years now ? ( currently 38)
The comparison to Indiana in basketball is shockingly close. At least Notre Dame hasnt become utterly irrelevant in the interim.
Notre Dame's scheduling has it's built in advantage with scheduling major conference teams, but vastly less talented and hence, nowhere near the level of competition they would if they played say, in the SEC.
That's all I am saying.
My opinion is what it is, maybe wrong, maybe some wil lse it right, this is not an equal sum thing. It's a matter of opinion, I'll stick with what I have seen for the past 40 years.
