I think that the south side consensus is that East St Louis vs Brother Rice is going to be for the Illinois State Title of the World
I used to think ESL was the heavy favorite in 7A, but I'm kinda leaning towards BR now.....shots fired!

Souc projections have Morris @ Montini in round 2 and Byron/IC would be in the quarters.

I think its Rice vs Normal Community in quarters then if Rice wins vs ESL in semis and then if they win that one most like Hersey or DGN in finals. Tough draw.
Rice will need to play flawlessly, as they did against Mount Carmel, to beat the Flyers. Possible, but you never know.
I like Carmel Catholic’s path.
Gotta get right with the MSL (Elk Grove) and then a significant challenge with the DuKane’s best (Geneva). This is all based on Souc’s projections.
Nothing CCHS hasn’t already encountered this season, however.
We’ve seen elite QB play, size, speed, power, and different (triple-option), and have shown to be good at times.
Just have to show up and play a clean game (obviously).

Is their potential road Glenbard West, Batavia, ESL or Rita, Normal and Hersey. Some schools with history there.
17, 2-7 teams will make it in. What are we doing? How is this a good thing?
We have our playoff field. 17 total 2-7 teams made the field with Rockford East being the last team in.

Normal Community being the 1 seed has by far the toughest path, Brother Rice in the quarterfinals and if they somehow make an upset play ESL in the semis.. As far as a potential Brother Rice vs ESL semis. this would be very interesting on who is the host for that game but high chance it would be at ESL
No team that has a losing record should be in the football playoffs. I remember once upon a time when you had to earn your way in.
winning 2 and 3 games isn’t earning your way in.
This would be extremely unlikely they’ll ever do. How would you feel if the IHSA added more teams and did a 1-64 bracket so no teams get a bye

Teams have won the state championship with a losing regular season record. Some teams schedules are much harder than others but can compete with their playoff class
I still think this playoff format change is just a scheme by Big T-Shirt to sell more gear; the 2-7 teams are pressing playoff qualifier shirts as we speak.
I am so glad that the 2 & 3 win teams are allowed into the playoffs

Providence-Kankakee should be a quarterfinal matchup and not a round one matchup. This format really punishes harder schedules than the old one.
Montini and Morris both just got BONED. Those are 2 of the 4 best teams and playing in round 1. What a joke.
I think most teams are perfectly happy when they get matched-up with a CPL school in the playoffs.
