never happen- internet coaches are never wrong, especially when they are wrong
Agreed. Campbell is a massive upgrade. Campbell won't lose big games.
When your team is in last place, it's best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool.
Becht misses wide open receivers, stares down other ones, resulting in picks and is vertically challenged resulting in more turnovers. This game was a classic example of loyalty gone bad. He needed pulled 3 weeks ago and now there's 4 losses in a row and no improvement nor adjustments. The most experienced qb in the league is an abject failure this year!
Franklin needed to go. He had worn out his welcome with many within Athletics as well. Not many tears were shed when he left.
If Becht is the best QB on the roster, he should play. There is no point playing the backup. PSU's QB next year isn't on PSU"s roster. I have no clue who it will be, but it is very unlikely it is Manske.

In 2026 with a 12 team playoff you're essentially eliminated with your 3rd loss 3-9 or 9-3 isn't good enough
This has been such a disappointing season. Personally i was not sold on Campbell being a great coach. I thought he would at least be able to be decent.
New coach mostly new staff and no different than the unraveling of last year.

There's plenty of reason to be skeptical and MC has to earn our faith. He's the coach and we know he's not getting fired any time soon so our options are either to hope for the best or he's so bad he's fired midway through 2028.

I want to see what he can do with more talent. This team just does not have the jimmy and Joe's. Doesn't matter what scheme they would run. We are seeing big 12 vs big 10 talent. Jimmy took some, others left on their own and Campbell was hired too late to get any type of talented players. He will need to hit the portal hard while recruiting strong as well. Gonna take a couple of years to rebuild. Assuming Kraft lets him spend money in the portal. Gonna be hard to sell suites and seats in the stadium if this team becomes a sub .500 team

What's Pitt's record? Here's a tidbit. Nard douche's record at Pitt, overall and conference are better than Matt Campbell's at ISU.
Ok, well he had more talent at Iowa State than at Toledo. He won less games, as a percentage of total games coached, at Iowa State than Toledo. So, I don't have the thought that him getting more talent is going to equate to winning more games.
As a Penn State alum and fan, I am wanting him to win, and win regularly. But, his history does not indicate that would be the case.
And if he doesn't, we'll have a new coach for 2029. Most programs are used to this but our fan base doesn't seem to accept that because we've had 3 coaches in like 60 years. This year isn't shocking--as soon as Howard went down we were in trouble because the OL can't run block and history proves Becht needs elite WRs to succeed.
It's also tough because if you compare MC to Iowa State's prior coaches (Rhoads, Chizik, McCarney, Walden and maybe I'm forgetting someone) it's obvious how much improved Iowa State was under MC. It's why MC has interviewed for many jobs over the years. Kind of like Patty Fitz. Does that mean success here? No--but winning less than he did at Toledo doesn't mean much IMO.
I wouldn't say "massive." I give him a little grace given that Kraft botched the search.
If we played pitt's pathetic schedule so far, we would be 7-0 and in the top 10.
