This will be the final edition of TOUTT until the champions are determined.

1. ESL (8-1) - Should be docked some points for doing my Huskies like that. However, overall the best combination of high end wins, no bad losses, roster talent, and pedigree. Could face a couple challenges in a top heavy 7A. Hopefully a game against Rice comes to fruition.

2. LWE (9-0) - I didn't even check to see the score of this game until literally right now as I'm typing, that's how confident I am in a LWE W, now I see that they beat LWW 37-14. Only tests were in week 1 & 2. We'll have to see how the path in 8A wind up. One thing we know is they can't see LA until the championship.

3. Rice (7-2) - workman like, the Crusaders dropped a couple close games that could have gone either way, otherwise they've been a steamroller. The state awaits the game against EESL.

4. MC (7-2) - Caravan proves itself with a dominating win over an undefeated Loyola. The 8A class waits with baited breath for the brackets to be released. Maybe an early rematch with The Griffins is in the cards?

5. Hersey (9-0) - good win over a good Prospect to win the conference and possibly a top 7A seed.

6. Bolingbrook (8-1) - got the overwhelming win over a scrappy Minooka. Raiders D continues to impress.

7. Loyola (8-1) - Ramblers drop considerably due to big loss to MC, along with week 8 performance on defense along with IC scoring 6 points against JCA. They will want to regroup in the off week.

8. Oswego (8-1) - Handled their crosstown rivals, however I am starting to be concerned about their main offensive threat who hasn't played since week 4.

9. Prospect (8-1) - competed well in loss to top 5 Hersey.

10. H-F (7-2)/ IC (8-1) - HF has been up and down this season but seems to have stabilized. IC has been stable until the last couple weeks.

See you Thanksgiving weekend with the finale

Too bad the Ramblers didn't get to play Minooka in week 9.

As much as it was painful to watch, The LA loss looks to be the best thing that could have happened to their bracket.

Why so high on Prospect? Looks like they were down 20-7 at the half, and 41-21 after the third. Doesn’t seem like they were ever in it

Yes MC is better than Minooka. Loyola also got cooked by a 3A team last week. If you dont see the trending problems with the defense I dont know what to tell you.

Believe me, I see the problems. Just question the UN in unbiased. I’d like Rambler’s chances against Bolingbrook. All good.

Also, wasnt a blowout. Given the defenciencies in everyone's schedule at some point i didnt feel compelled to drop them though I did consider it. Wouldn't argue against it either. People were predicting a 28 point loss. Looks like they hung well enough. Unfortunately Fubo deleted it and I didnt get to watch it.

To be fair, they faced some of the best wide receivers in the state the last two weeks.
I think Ive been fair. In the last 6 quarters IC has 6 points. Someone is stopping those WRs. MC is a different, theyve been contained only by ESL and Rice. Should Loyola be performing similar to ESL and Rice?

LA has 6.4 quarterback with an arm yet they caged him in. If LA offense can stay on the field longer then maybe their defense would not tired on the long passes.

Does anyone know if Shaw is accurate with their pairing predictions?

Assuming both win, LWE will MC in the second game/third round, a brutal draw. I was hoping one of Loyola or MC would knock the other out before getting LWE.

ESL dominated them in the fourth quarter. It’s fine, it happens to everyone once every two decades.
Rice did too.

I was hoping to get LWE, MC, and Loyola all on the same side. Now that the qualifiers are out Souc may do a revision. Its just math now for anyone that wants to do it.

Souc won't do a revision now, he helps the IHSA make sure everything is correct for the actual brackets.

I think you've got the right ten teams, but I'd have Loyola ahead of Hersey and Bolingbrook. I'd also have LWE behind BR, MC, and Loyola. Don't forget that while LWE was thrashing its way through the SWS conference, those three schools were beating the piss out of each other getting battle tested for the playoffs. Tale as old as time....

With my rankings this week, I'll give you my biggest question for each team as they head into the playoffs.

1. Lincoln-Way East
Will they ever get past the Catholic League again? After great regular seasons, they've been bounced by Loyola or Mt. Carmel five years in a row.

2. Brother Rice
Will they be able to handle the individual matchups against East St. Louis?

3. East St. Louis
Are they actually an elite program? Half the time, they steamroll their bracket, and half the time, they get upset by a much less talented school.

4. Mt. Carmel
Are they going to have to win shootouts five weeks in a row? They've scored a lot of points this year, but they've also allowed more than expected.

5. Loyola
Similar question as Mt. Carmel - can their offense do enough to compensate for an uncharacteristically weak defense?

6. Immaculate Conception
They play, by far, the toughest schedule of anyone in 3A (in fact, their weakest opponent is probably better than Byron's strongest). We know they're battle-tested, but are they also worn-out? If so, will it even matter against schools of similar size who also have to play starters both ways?

7. St. Ignatius
Will the IHSA ever reform its rules to determine playoff class by sport participation rather than enrollment? Per MaxPreps, their varsity roster is 35, but with an enrollment of 1,500 that gets multiplied, they're basically stuck in 8A.

8. Homewood-Flossmoor
Will we see the team that shut-out Bolingbrook or the team that lost to Lincoln-Way Central?

9. Bolingbrook
With only one truly big win this year, are they ready for a tough draw that likely sees them play both LT's in weeks 11 and 12?

10. Hersey
They're rolling, but is their schedule actually good enough to tell us anything?

Not out of the realm of possibility. Trouble is when one team beats the other, I don't like result nullification without an obvious reason to. I did consider putting Rice over LWE. The issue is I dont think moving the CCLB trio as a monolith is reasonable. I feel that we have been given reason enough to break them up.

I think we can all agree that BR/MC/LA are peers and can beat each other on any given day (as was proved during the regular season). BR lost a close week one game during which they broke in their freshmen QB (with zero HS playing experience) and gave up a trick play TD. I would think it's safe to say that BR has grown leaps and bounds moreso than LWE in the last 8 weeks given their strength of schedule and QB development.
At the end of the day, rankings (yours, mine, anyones) don't mean crap though. That's why they play the game. Time will tell.

Thats why they play the games, which is why im hesitant to flip the LWE result without a poor or even average performance in 7 weeks. Also, Im not sure LWE hasnt grown leaps and bounds. Remember they followed up the Rice win with a squeaker over Kankakee. And Im not on the Kankakee bus like many others.

Loyola and Mt. Carmel are the ones that immediately come to mind. East St. Louis is a really good program, but when they don't consistently win the third-largest playoff class, I can't look at them as being a top-tier program.
Both Loyola and ESL have won 3 titles over the last 6 years, however Loyola has not made 6 straight title games.

You'll note that I have them ranked ahead of Mt. Carmel this year, because I'm willing to be objective, but I want to know why they've been defeated decisively by Cary Grove and Fenwick previous years (even though it doesn't matter for a current-year ranking).
Defeated decisively? The scores of the 2 CG/ESL games were 37-36 and 23-20.

I'm talking big picture, beyond a single year. They're one of the best teams this year, but not one of the state's overall best programs.
You want big picture, ESL has the most wins in state history.

IHSA also breaks down teams based on how far they've gone in the playoffs.
