VB lost last night 3-1. But it should’ve gone to a fifth set were it not for an egregious error by Rutgers’ outside hitter Avery Jesewicz.

It was set point for Rutgers leading 24-22 in the fourth set, trailing 2-1, and during a rally, UW hit the ball high in the air over the net toward the sideline, and it was clearly going to land out of bounds, but Jesewicz allowed the ball to hit her body, and UW was awarded the point. Had she allowed the ball to hit the floor, Rutgers wins the set 25-22 and ties the match 2-2, sending it to a deciding fifth set. But after being given life by that error, UW went on to win the set 33-31 and the match 3-1.

Awful mistake that potentially cost Rutgers a humongous upset win on the road.

the women have definitely improved this year and with some more NIL money hopefully we can take the next step and start winning more of these close matches!!

Lost to Oregon 3-1, but this is the fifth straight match in which we've won one set from a ranked opponent and were truly competitive.
