It'll be ok. Ben said he and the coaches point out the player mistakes to them in and from practices, scrimmages, and other preseason play, and correct them, until the players are ready to recognize and correct any mistakes themselves during regular season play. That readiness by the team will go a long way in determining who starts and who won't. I think we'll be fine.

I am pretty sure he is being sarcastic... at least I hope he was lol

I think Ben knows a little something about coaching. Don't you think?

[2D]

Ben has openly talked about how he uses scrimmages to expose weaknesses and he lets the guys figure things out. He more or less expects to lose them, as he wants to see what needs to be worked on before the season starts. Really smart when you think about it, no one pays attention to scrimmages and they count for nothing in the record books, and it comes with the advantages playing another team. Now Ben has a month to work out the issues. You'll get the usual chest thumping from our dorky rivals, but it turned out pretty well for us last year.

[BreezyB]

I bet Fran never lost a secret scrimmage. What was Iowa thinking? Who cares about sweet 16s and Elite 8s. There are important things to lose in October too.

[Bro D]

It’s gonna be a long season

[QChawks]

I'm not, glad someone picked up on the sarcasm

Anybody hear how McKeever did via the grapevine?

Anybody hear how McKeever did via the grapevine?

Improved footwork, strength and conditioning and up to about 300 lbs...one of the best passers on team..that's all I've heard so far. Some video of him in other thread.

[MacMiney]

My feeling exactly.

Two years ago.

[Hawkangler]

Not sure that means much.

[CleteyColgate]

Joey Matteoni is one of the best players on the team, from all accounts

hang the banner!

[kwik44]

Coon may be first off the bench.

[Hawkangler]

Mean nothing more than an opportunity to play other players to get better as a team.

[Palmerhawk]

Coon may be first off the bench.

He said he has gained 25 lbs in last year and increased his vertical to 41"?
That kind of physical development to prepare for BIG BB is promising,if he still can stroke it from arc.

I think you mean Manicotti

[2432Hawk]

Creighton at ISU exhibition on EPSN+ right now

[2432Hawk]

Creighton looking pretty good. 9 made 3's in 1st half and up 6 with 31.9 left in 1st half

Creighton up big.

[Hawksfor3]

Clones catching up.

[Hawksfor3]

Lead for Creighton down to 3 on a Johnson layup. 1:03 left in the game.

[Hawksfor3]

Creighton freshman misses 2 FT's. Clones a chance with 6.7 sec left.

Will the results of the secret scrimmages improve our top-25 ranking prospects?

[Hawksfor3]

Clones go down 83-80.

That might be a good question for Ben.

I really don't get the negativity toward Joey Matteoni. Go back and read the comments about Joey by one of the coaches. He described him as elite in terms of understanding offensive flow. We have a deep team but it sounds like Joey has a role to play as Ben has indicated they may go a little deeper on the bench this season.

I wrote last season that the coaches almost pulled his redshirt their season at Drake. It sounds like Joey has continued to develop in his time here. This staff has earned our trust in their evaluation of players.

[eyesofhawk]

Coon may be first off the bench.

Where have you heard that?

I don't see that happening all
