No online stream for those outside of Chicago. I am in New Orleans, getting score updates from the game.
This sucks not being able to watch.

17-14 MC at half. No idea how it’s this close. MC was dominant. LA turned MC mistakes into TDs. LA ball to start 2nd half.

MC’s defensive backs need to figure out a way to stay consistent in the playoffs. I’ve been to or have watched just about every game this year and way too many PI calls that are obvious. Often times for under thrown balls or where it doesn’t have to be so obvious. Great game MC

Tyler Plantz is a genius! Kidding. As stated above, MC played a great game defensively against a great opponent. Something tells me LA may have played a little bit of possum figuring we may meet again and on the flip side that was a pretty straight forward game for MC offensively too but it was a great performance by the Caravan tonight......After the int before half I had flashbacks of the Rice game when MC had a 17-7 lead and BR moved down the field and scored before half....dejavu was happening. But it all worked out this time.

My understanding was it was TPs idea to move Harrington to FS and out of the CB position. Brilliant move

You are being polite. It was an ***-kicking. For anyone interested, Lynch did not run up the score and both sides did an effective job of rapidly running out the 4th quarter clock with LA getting a garbage time TD at the end.

It was a highly entertaining game. Like a good book with a happy ending. In a classic CCL showdown, the Tyler Plantz defense was outstanding. And #11, Cullen Winter, was back out there, calling plays and colliding with a running back.

One of the announcers did say that Mount Carmel has the second most wins in IHSA history, just behind ESL and ahead of Loyola. Good company.

I don't understand why LA ran 12 straight run plays, which were ineffective all night until the last play. LA offense has been sputtering all season and it showed last night. They have not put up a good 4 quarters game, maybe St. Ignatius. LA QB was like a boy and needs to come out with swagger mentality. R. Fitzgerald had that swagger.

I don't like talking too much about the current players but, yes, Fitz had serious swagger, was tough, was a leader, and could run to keep drives alive. I miss him on the field.

(BTW, 12 straight runs was when the game was over and the coaches were killing the clock in the 4th no? When LA was still playing the game it was mostly passes not getting within 5 yards of a receiver or being dropped by receivers. I didn't sense they were overcommitting to a run game that clearly wasn't working.)

I haven't seen LA play a full game this year outside of a Sloche video of the Rice game, so I'm not sure how explosive their offense normally is l, but having seen LA play in person or on TV numerous times over the past couple decades, especially in the Holecek era, it just seems to me that they might have been holding back and playing basic football. MC defense played great, they got a good pass rush in on Lee and I'm not downgrading their performance but Holecek knows what their path might look like with a loss vs a win and he knows there's good chance they play MC again. I by NO MEANS think they threw the game or tried to lose but maybe they didn't play with the same must win playbook. And really MC didn't go deep into their playbook either. I never saw Cloherty run more than twice in a game before last night and that was becasue Samuels wasn't 100%. If we meet again for all the marbles you'll see two different offenses.

1 and goal, and they ran the balls 3 times and turned over on down. Afterward they just gave up with no attempt with the passing game. Give M. Lee the free reign and let see how he operates under pressure even though the game was over. MC always have good offensive teams and LA needs to get that level.

I am unsure if I saw what you saw. Maybe? To my eyes LA was not ready for the moment. I’m hearing Charlie Fowler will be back for the playoffs.

3 games during Holecek's era that say about his coaching style, Lockport, Main South, and Naperville Central. Loyola were the superior teams and lost those games due to weak of offensive game management.

these two will meet again and beating either of them 2x in one season is incredibly difficult

I would rather take an L in the season than in the playoffs

Bullet points:

*Like last year, the Caravan defense stopped a top opponent on the goal line.
*The rest of the time, they held LA to 31 rushing yards, 19 by Maldonado.
*In keeping with tradition, MC has started peaking in the playoffs.
*We love all our transfers from the portal, both players and coaches.
*Like an oak tree rooted deep, Cloherty was unfazed by the 24-mph winds.
