Says we're a top 10 caliber team when our stars play like stars.

At our best, Sellers is insane, Harbor's an alien, Stewart is a monster.

If you catch us on a Saturday when are stars playing like stars, we're a terror.

Says a casual fan would watch us like we played on Saturday and ask "how do they lose games??"

Bottom line: we don't consistently play to our talent level.

We really don't need Josh to state to us the obvious.

You know what this screams...........COACHING! The lack thereof, specifically.

The Beamer teams look like they never practice basic football stuff. It is a lack of discipline and executing fundamentals that costs us games. It took until the 6th game of this season to look decent.

Look at our talent ratings since they have been coming out and aside from a sweet 3-year period, we have mostly underperformed.

What it ‘screams’ is LEADERSHIP, the lack thereof, on the field. I saw that improving last week. Understandable in the nil age, but not workable without a stable of elite guys. These guys are being ‘coached’, I promise you.

It sure looked like the little things that turn into the big things to me! Tackling, less penalties, not under/over throwing receivers, catching the ball, + turnovers, getting pressure and for crying out loud not blowing coverages! Amazing what doing what you're coached to do will do for on field production!

Sellers has been victimized with 20 dropped passes this year, most in the SEC. If that number is half, we are 5-1 and probably top 15 right now.

King Dixon was just a place holder hire but he got us into the SEC.
I'm glad he's a friend of yours, but he might have actually been worse than Rising Tide Ray as an AD. Turned down bowl bids in '89 & '90, which back when bowls were VERY important, that torpedoed the program. He also fired George Felton, which was a massive mistake. Felton was actually the guy that could have gotten us back to the level we were in the 70s. Very good coach & recruiter. Dixon cold easily be #1 on the list.

It isn't like things were ever great and any of these guys ruined it. Dietzel getting SC out of the ACC may have been the worst move ever by any AD in history, so, I'll have to go with him as doing the most damage.

The ACC is the natural home for South Carolina.
One of the reasons things were never great is because there's regularly been people like this around, and influential of South Carolina athletics. No one truly pushed to make them great, but in delusion made decisions like this.

This ACC departure happened well before my time, and I agree that, at least historically, SC's natural home was the ACC. I was long curious about this as a young Gamecock fan so I wrote the now late sports writer Ken Burger to get a summary of it all. One of the things he said in his reply was there was this thought that SC would become independent and be able to create a "Notre Dame" of the south. That's asinine in thought.

Weird. I WAS around at that time and that’s the first I’ve heard of the Notre dame of the South stuff. Sounds dumb enough to be true though.

A friend of mine played on the ACC championship team, oline. He says Dietzel fancied himself the second coming of Bear Bryant.
