Most people dont seem to like this (radio talk show people and fans) but as a UK football fan I feel like this is awesome news. The playoff is all that matters. Stein and UK will be in the playoff for sure many seasons now.

Someone said we would play ok state (we would host) and then when we won we would go to notre Dame. That would be fun. Too bad its not in for this season.

Most bowls have already lost their appeal eith all the opt outs and the number of bowls.

This. I didnt know most people cared about the pop tart bowl lol. But I know we have some people who watch them all so I get their dislike here.

This also eliminates conference title games so probably going to have shared sec titles a decent amount of seasons going forward

2018 and 2021 would have both been playoff seasons for UK with this expanded 24 team playoffs. I like it. Bowl games can go. And as much as I enjoy the SEC Championsip games, I would rather see UK in the playoffs than watch Georgia and Alabama a 2nd time in the SEC Championsip game.

I think it will affect the regular season in an unanticipated way. I think after three losses the players will mail it in or claim injury and not play. This could affect games that are subsequently played against teams competing for a spot and will make schedule comparisons totally irrelevant or erroneous They may try to incorporate some of the lesser bowls into the payoffs. Otherwise they need to be ditched and just let all teams have ability to practice.

Will the conferences end their championship games? Seems like it will be a lot of games to play for SEC teams. But the players are getting paid so they are professionals.

Obviously. In a decade it’ll probably be at least 48 teams. I mean basketball is at 76 now. If you view college sports as purely fun and entertainment then this is nothing but a positive.

What is the point of being in a conference if 24 makes it and you simply have to go 8-4 if you are a major brand like Texas or Ohio St? Couldn't you go independent, cut a larger per year deal then you get from Big Ten or Sec, and then put all your other sports in a low major?

Guess the people that dont like this dont want UK in the playoff. Making a 12 team playoff means 10 and 2 regular season. With a 9 game sec schedule this at least gives us better chances at 9 and 3 or 8 and 4 perhaps

9-3 teams from the Power Two will all get in. And all the more reason to play three Group Six teams to pad record.

This. College football will become NBA like in that failing teams will just phone it in. The only P5 teams playing with any passion by midway through the season will be ones fighting for a playoff spot. There will also be even less big time out of conference games. Why would teams risk an out of conference loss? This is a HORRIBLE decision.

It was inevitable.

4, 12, 16…too much “What if…” scenarios and too much bellyaching.

Also it guarantees every top team big brand name that won 9-10 games gets in.

The sport, TV, and sponsors can’t have Michigan, USC, and good SEC teams that played tough schedules sitting on the sidelines watching Texas Tech, Tulane, BYU…

It should be. Other bowls don't mean anything now. I would take a round of 24 loss over a music city bowl win.

They should expand it in a way where the top four teams get a bye. There has to be recognition for winning.

yeah we'll eventually get to at least 32 teams. Probably drop most bowl games and conference championships. Now that college sports are no longer about 'student athletes' they will milk every dollar from fans and sports networks

Bowls I think get bumped to early season kick off events. Kind of like CBB had classics and invitationals.

Would be great to have some CFB action in August to get hyped for the season.

Cheer up, doom and gloomers. We already know most bowl games are meaningless and are usually played at random times on random days in front of half empty stadiums and we always mock bowls sponsored by cat food or something.

Sports fans love tournaments, playoffs, and brackets and an expansion only helps teams like UK. It's one example but a graphic was already shown online that if the season ended today, we'd play OSU then at ND under the new expansion. Would anyone here say no to that and yes to The Dude Wipes Bowl vs Wake Forest?

I don’t like all the first round byes. What’s wrong with 16 teams, or if you really want to replace bowl season, 32 teams.
