Its like this guy just has no view on the actual events of the last 2 years.
How about the Jack Smith charges? Are those going to come back once POTUS is no longer #47?
If I remember correctly, the charges could still be pursued but there would be some major roadblocks to making it happen.

I just did a quick google search.

Key Details on Potential Revival
  • Dismissal Without Prejudice: U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan dismissed the 2020 election interference case without prejudice, and the classified documents case was similarly dropped after Smith moved to end them, keeping the theoretical door open for a future administration. [1, 2, 3]
  • Statute of Limitations Risk: Most federal crimes carry a five-year statute of limitations. Legal analysts note that by the time Trump's second term ends in January 2029, a major legal battle will center on whether the time he spent in office "paused" (tolled) the clock or if the timeline for the underlying offenses has expired. [1, 2]
  • Jack Smith's Stance: During testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Smith declined to rule out whether a future Justice Department could attempt to revive the charges after 2029, calling it a live legal question. [1]
  • Presidential Immunity: The Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. United States established broad criminal immunity for official presidential acts, which would continue to complicate or bar prosecution for actions tied to core executive powers. [1, 2]

Nah he's been paying attention. The way it works though is that if it's a good thing for the Republicans, it's definitely as good as they're saying. If it's bad and it's plausibly not their fault, it's not their fault. If it's bad and can't be anything other than the Republican's fault, either acknowledge it or make a joke and ignore.

Reverse everything when it comes to Democrats and that's how it works.

It's weird as well, because the only people on this forum that will have the level of conversation he wants to have, are the left leaning. Other than bdgan, there aren't even 3-4 maga adherents on this board who will have the measured, honest, and thoughtful conversations about politics or ideology that he seeks.

And I understand that means he 'expects more' from his more thoughtful/intelligent brethren here, but it leads one to question "why" he has the beliefs he does in the first place. Is Ned simply a contrarian, looking for people to banter with back and forth, and no more?

would not have guessed that one. I don't think Donnie Is much concerned. As long as he hasn't done anything illegal, he's in no danger. Bad for members of both parties though...people are alittle tired of Insider trading

I'm really kind of surprised that some of you immediately jump to conclusions that Trump is guilty of some crimes. Whatever happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty? We can each have opinions, but so far all I've seen are accusations...no charges, no trials....

But your minds are made up...so onward we go

that's not an accurate assessment. It's simply a point of opportunities.I respond negatively to some of the unsupported statements of folks on the right. But there are just so many posts from those of you on the left that are just accusations of trump or republicasns that seem to have little basis in fact. And you don't like it when someone says that. Now dpic will post something from a left leaning site that corresponds with his opinion and use that post as proof. But the person he reposts know no more than dpic.

You guys are convinced trump has committed crimes. Ok...he may have. I'm not saying he hasn't. You all might be 100% right. But we have a system in this country..remember, have to protect democracy...yet without anyone even filing a charge you've already convicted him...how is that protecting democracy.

On you pardon "example"...didn't the last guy pardon just about everyone in his "circle"? I expect trump will do the same and even attempt to pardon himself. But seemingly there were good reasons in 2024...

I personally don't care if Trump and his entire family end up in jail for any crimes committed. But, we have a process which begins with someone filing charges - which does not in and of itself mean the person charged is guilty - then we go through the process....

Now, I might take the same position you just did..whenever TG or FP make a statement about a Democrat you have a negative response, but when someone bring up a Democrat thing there is always a reason that justifies it...but, yea I know, that's different

But, as I posted, if Donnie hasn't done anything illegal, he has no worries

My characterization is certainly exaggerated but I think it's thematically correct. I will acknowledge that I have a number of MAGA posters on ignore so it's entirely possible you're consistently slapping down their BS but I do see you commenting on those threads without push back. And I do think you have significantly higher expectations for Democratic politicians than Republicans as well as for left leaning posters. It's not an iron clad rule but I believe you can see it in your post here.

Trump very plainly committed crimes and the fact that he was elected president and all of the trials got killed doesn't stop that from being true. Your whole "rule of law" spiel about this comes across as support for Trump, even if what you're trying to do is add context (that doesn't contribute to the conversation). Similarly, the scale with which Trump and Biden abused pardons is not comparable, nor is the associated criminal activity for those crimes pardoned. And you should know that.

We're in a tricky spot because we do legitimately have lots of politicians doing shady things and we combine that with a general public that's on a real populist streak and aren't very good at critical thinking.

For example (and I'm not going to sit here and say with confidence that all of the Pelosi's trading was all perfectly legal), I saw a post showing how much Nancy Pelosi is worth right now vs what she was when she came into office and they were like CROOK! But if you sat and did the math, if she'd just left her net worth invested in the stock market with no further investments that got her to 85% of the number. People going around parroting ******** and talking about the "donor class", "billionaire class", "consultant class", "oligarchs", "radical left" is all dangerous; it's a shortcut that allows us to have an enemy without needing to think. And that's where I do think we can see more violence in general; people seeing enemies and not thinking.

You can say what you want about Lyndsey Graham, but his net worth at death was about $2 million. He didn’t enrich himself and I have to give him credit for that. Saying all of that we absolutely have a corruption problem. It’s really just the boomers to be blamed for it. 😉

Well depending on what "enrich yourself" means, I don't think it's fair to expect politicians (or anyone) to have high net worths. Maybe I feel that way just because I'm a Bogle-head but if I left my net worth alone right now, it's going to be a very gaudy number by the time I'm Pelosi's age. And my net worth has only come from income invested in broad index funds +some inheritance that was generated the same way.

If you dig into the crosstabs, it shows that 60% of respondents are extremely concerned about the issue. Would this be an extreme concern unless they thought it was illegal? Are you trying to claim that corruption is not inherently illegal?

Martha Stewart went to jail for five months followed by five months of house arrest for trading one stock. What Trump has done is orders of magnitude worse than what she did because as POTUS he's the ultimate insider and has clearly gamed the system to enrich himself.

Joe Biden was not in office and had not enriched himself and Comer Pyle investigated him for two long years because of a suspicion.

But we shouldn't jump to conclusions about Trump when the evidence is smacking us in the face?

Again, you make me laugh.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not hating on Graham on this topic. Or even at all in the post. I was just pushing back some on you saying that his relatively modest net worth when he died was indicative of high character, that's all. I don't want someone to just assume that you did something shady just because you have some money.

How about congressional oversight? You know, Congress is actually doing its job. Remember, just a few years ago, when the Republican Congress found the smoking gun: a $4,000 check that Hunter Biden wrote to his father, Joe Biden, at a time when Joe Biden was neither Vice President nor President. This was an indication of massive crimes against the country and, according to some people, treason.

What happened to those guys? Seems like they'd be all over all the **** that Trump and his kids are doing right now.

Maybe because he's a political hack only interested in corruption in blue states and many of his targets were later found to be legitimate businesses. Standing outside a building with locked doors is not evidence of fraud. And most of the businesses he targeted were already under investigation.

But let's not conflate a YouTuber with the most corrupt politician of all time who openly flaunts his corruption in the faces of the population he fleeces.

Chump and Putin are tied at the hip for their self interest.

Russia has used AI-powered bot networks to spread pro-Trump and pro-MAGA narratives, most recently through a Kremlin-linked operation dubbed Operation Overload (or Matryoshka) targeting the 2026 U.S. midterms. In July 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice disrupted an earlier AI-enhanced bot farm of 968 fake accounts created by RT and the FSB to impersonate Americans and amplify pro-Kremlin content, including support for Donald Trump.

Recent developments (2025–2026):

  • Operation Overload is flooding X and Bluesky with fabricated videos targeting Democratic candidates and amplifying division ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026 midterms; U.S. intelligence assesses Moscow’s goal is to create chaos rather than elect a specific candidate.
  • A viral claim (March 2025) suggested AI bots posing as Trump supporters were exposed on X when one ran out of credits, though no concrete proof of a large-scale Russian operation was verified.
  • Ukrainian strikes on Yandex data centers (Oct. 8–11, 2026) caused a ~94% drop in automated traffic, but fact-checkers (Snopes, BBC Verify, DW) found no credible evidence this silenced Russian propaganda bots, as the traffic decline reflected search-engine crawlers, not troll accounts.

Extremely weak. "Innocent until proven guilty" is a legal concept, and may or may not have anything to do with reality.

If I walk up to you, having never met you before, but with knowledge of how annoying your fake "both sidesism" is on this board, and I just had enough of it and cold-cocked you, knocking you out and killing you ... and your family watched all this .. did I do something bad? Or did I not do something bad until/if I'm found guilty of it in a court of law ... and I should tell your family that I'm surprised at just how quickly they jump to conclusions that I'm guilty of some crime?

Hitler himself (being dead, and stuff) was never put on trial and found guilty of all his alleged crimes ... so should we refrain from "bad mouthing" him for his "alleged" transgressions?

Is that the problem here ... you fancy yourself a defense attorney, and think you're in an episode of Matlock, or something?

It's good for Trump cousin goober. He is exposing corruption with arrests and prosecutions to back it up.

While the overarching topic of the survey is "corruption in government," the underlying data shows that respondents heavily focus on Trump when explaining what that government corruption actually looks like.

According to the full cross-tabulation report published by Navigator Research, the specific group of Americans who rank government corruption as a top-five priority primarily define it through the lens of Trump and his political allies. [1, 2]

When these high-priority respondents were asked what "government corruption" specifically means to them:
  • 25% explicitly stated it means "Trump and Republicans' actions".
  • 26% defined it as "elected officials engaging in lies and crimes", and 19% defined it as "elected officials getting rich in office." [1, 2]
Furthermore, the data reveals that when respondents evaluate corruption within Washington, a clear 60% majority state that Trump is bringing more corruption to the government rather than fixing it. This is a 20-point margin over those who believe he is cleaning it up. When forced to choose which party embodies government corruption more, 46% point to the Republican Party compared to 34% who choose the Democratic Party—a gap that expands to 51% when Trump is explicitly factored into the choice. [1]

So while the question is framed broadly around "government," the crosstabs show that for a significant portion of the public, thoughts of federal government corruption are deeply tied to Trump and the Republican party. [1]
