Projected #1 and #2 seeds in east clashing on Friday night. With the history between these two teams, this one might be interesting. I’m picking ED 28-7.

I could be wrong, but I think it will be much closer. Both teams seem to be playing very well recently. Both had close games with Wallace-Rose Hill. East Duplin's only blemish is to a very good Jacksonville team while Clinton lost to a one loss Midway squad and undefeated Whiteville.
Appears the winner will win the conference championship and should be the #1 seed in 4A East assuming they win out.

#1 and #4 will be in same bracket, #2 and #3 in same bracket.
Reidsville will be hurt by their last two opponents records. TWA will probably move to #2 this week by jumping over the loser of Clinton/ED. Winner of Clinton/ED probably locks up #1 seed in East as both will be big favorites in their last two games. Loser drops to #3/#5 range.
I would keep an eye on SW Edgecombe and West Craven. Big matchup next week between the two. If West Craven wins and then beats Eastern Wayne in their last game, they will make a big move up and could claim that #4 seed, possibly the #3. I think West Craven wins out.

To honest I didn't think this ED team was going to be that good. ED started 8 sophomores and playing 10 against Wallace game one. Those sophomores have come a long ways and really playing well. Seniors are leading the way as they should. Lost some guys week one to injuries. Starting to get some back and some more coming by playoffs that will be a huge help. My opinion this is one of Battles best coaching jobs. No score prediction but I think ED wins Friday and only gets better moving forward.
That does bid well for the future. Without looking at our roster I’m sure we have 6 sophomores and possibly more playing. Our Qb is a Sophmore. Funny thing is in the past when we had that many it killed our JV team but this year we still have plenty on JV and they may win the conference. So I know how you feel about that. It is encouraging.

I've watched a few jv games and I kinda like the qb thats playing for them. He moves around the pocket pretty well and can scramble, had a decent arm too from the bit that I watched
He does look pretty good. Him, the varsity starter and the backup all sophomores so see how it goes. Varsity backup is a good starter on defense.

I was out at our Middle School game yesterday at West Craven. It was the last home game for the 8th graders so they treated it like senior night. We put the Eagle up and I went home and got some smoke and let them have an entrance like our varsity. They looked like they really enjoyed it. They were playing HJ McDonald and I believe it was for the conference Championship. HJ won 12-7. But we had over 20 8th graders on that team last night. I had no idea we would have that many kids coming in next year. It’s hard not to get excited over it. Football is alive and well!!

I know JV doesn’t get quite the attention but you have a pretty big JV game between the two this evening. Clinton 7-0 East Duplin 6-1. Should be a good one.
Newspapers don't cover sports like they used to either. I don't think it is for lack of effort but mostly lack of staff. Most people go online or social media for news now so they aren't making money off the physical copy papers anymore which has resulted in smaller staff.
Hard to give info on JV programs. Most teams don't even enter a roster and hardly anybody enters stats.
True story would like to feature more JV stuff but definitely lack of info outside of the final score. Rely heavily on the players themselves or parents/family members to message me information/highlights

Yeah some folks act like JV doesn’t matter I always enjoy getting a glimpse of the future. Everyone doesn’t always go straight to varsity you got some solid kids on some of these JV teams
What I really enjoyed last night was hearing some of the last names last night as they were called out. Our best player this year a senior receiver is a Cuthbertson. His little brother is an 8th grader. Going to be fun hearing that name for 4 more years!
That should be an excellent JV game tonight . Got see how good the young Horses are so ill know how hard I have to pull against them
