Someone tracked negative mentions of SEC coaches and players on Reddit. No surprise who's at the top, but Lebby in the Top 10 surprises me.

I'm actually not surprised

I guess it would be interesting to know what the time period is......but no matter what, if the inter webs has proved one thing over the past many years, the folk behind the keyboards are geniuses, and the ones doing the actual work, are idiots

Saban, Retired when he was no longer ASSURED of having the most talented team, now preaching on how things ought to be .
I know I've got a bad case of Saban fatigue. Good grief, just go away and enjoy retirement. I had to flip to SECN and Big Noon when they were going on about the documentary on CGD. I'm sure as heck not watching him scream at people for 6 hours.
The Athletic did a review of it and my favorite line in the comments was "his greatest accomplishment might have been getting a panel of grown men to say Miss Terry".

What social platform did they use to get the numbers. Hell Kiffin has been mentioned that many times on this board alone and none of it has been good. That's just more clickbait bull ****.

Drink was yelling at our guys 2 years ago. So 17 him.

I totally get Lane being #1
I totally get the Arch hate. If his last name wasn't Manning, he'd be considered just average to good.
There are clips of his HS highlights. The competition level for Newman HS did him no favors as far as preparation for college. Damn it is bad.
It did wonders for his ranking, I guess, for people who just look at the numbers without understanding the sh!+ competition.

I don't understand the hate for Beamer outside of S. Carolina.
I don't understand the hate for Venebles. He just looks like Beavis, moreso than Lane K.
I don't understand the hate for Mateer. He's not that great of a QB.

It should be...

1- Lane Kiffin
2- Arch Manning
3- Steve Sarkisian
4- Eli Drinkwitz
5- Greg Sankey

Kiffin is obviously #1.
Arch Manning is #2...he has the highest total negative comments and the most mentions, so he is being talked about the most and basically hated the most...after Kiffin.

And Sankey needs to be high on this list. The guy is basically universally hated outside the SEC, and many SEC fans hate him too.

There's enough of our own "fans" on this message board alone that **** on him that I'm surprised he's not Top 5.
Does that show that "our own fans on this message board" and in general aren't alone in their thinking?

Playing devils advocate here though for Lucifer Morningstar (you're welcome), what has he done to endear himself to fans, won 11 games in 3 years? That's not going to do it. What else?

I live in Starkville, never laid eyes on him except on camera or the sidelines. Other coaches I see at the grocery store talking to people, local fund raisers, Starkville Cafe having a meal, their kids little league games, at other MSU sports games, etc etc etc. No Lebby sightings in almost 3 years of him being in town.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand how 27% negative comments translate to a 2.9 "negative comments per 1000 "?

- The 'Negative %' column refers to the percentage that 'Negative Mentions' is when compared to 'Mentions'. So 623 / 2302 = 27%

- The 'Negative Mentions per 1000 Comments' is just a tally of how many total negative mentions there are in every 1000 posts.
That means there were 213,356 total posts(comments) analyzed for Lane Kiffin, and 623 posts(comments) included a negative mention of Kiffin(2.92 negative mentions per 1000 comments).
That means there were 704,110 total posts(comments) analyzed for Steve Sarkisian, and 1,028 posts(comments) included a negative mention of Sarkisian(1.46 negative mentions per 1000 comments).

This infographic isnt great at clearly displaying what was analyzed. And even after you know what was analyzed, I think it leaves you with more questions, since different post counts are required to come up with the ratio of negative mentions to 1000 comments.

The sample size for Lebby (98) is too small to create a stable and reliable percentage making it difficult to interpret because every comment is contributing a large weight to the overall percentage. Meanwhile, Lane has 2,300 comments and we can rest assured people hate that guy.

I could go on Reddit and post 10 times that Lebby sux, and raise his percentage 7% from 26% negative to 33% negative. I do that for Kiffen and it would just be a drop in the negative bucket.

This is basically just the SEC’s coaching hot seat rankings overlayed with the SEC’s most overrated QB rankings. Not really much to see here, other than the special guest appearances from Nick Saban, Mike Bobo, and Mark Stoops.

If we are expanding past the “players and coaches” criteria mentioned in OP’s post to include Sankey, then I will add Paul Finebaum and the skinny one from Marty and McGee
