EA was a big reason for the NIL deals today.
Players sued them because EA used their images in the EA games without paying the players.
The NCAA got the money for that .
Now the players are getting the bucks and the EA might not be able to afford paying what the players want.

Game sucks anyway. Over it.

They'd sell just as many copies with generic player names. It's not like Madden, where kids want to play as Brady and Manning (all-pros for two decades).

True to an extent. Players like me who only play in Dynasty mode have no issue with generic football players because there are only real players in the dynasty for less than a quarter of the time / life of the game. The real players are a bonus for me and not what I'm playing for. But I'm am sure a lot of people will be highly disappointed when Jeremiah Smith is replaced by a slow white guy wearing #40 or Trinidad Chambliss is replaced by pocket passer wearing #16.

So their business model is unsustainable when they have to pay people?

Ryan Hart, Rutgers QB famously started all this, suing EA Sports for having “RU QB #13” with his same height weight and appearance.

the players should just be able to opt out. Or, here’s an idea, give them each $100 bucks and 5 free copies of the game for them and their friends and be happy. These stupid kids should be living their dream to be in a video game. Is a lamborghini and huge diamond chain necklace not enough for some of them?

They gave them 600 dollars and a free copy of the game already.
