First of all, since I was so wrong about the LSU game(I thought they'd clobber us and have never enjoyed being badly wrong so much), I hate to be optimistic about this one but I can't help it as I'm now a believer in this team. I was already a believer in Stein. I think UK will win this game. I know I'm wrong a lot in these things but a stopped clock is right twice a day and I'm due.
I think Oklahoma will have a big letdown in play for several reasons. Oklahoma State is not their biggest rival; that's their little brother. Texas is always their biggest game on the schedule. Oklahoma is not just coming off a win in their biggest game of the year but off an upset of the #1 team in the country. Either situation often leads to a letdown and this is the double whammy and there is no way a coach can motivate them to be as fired up and focused as last game. Also, they are just not as good as they looked in that last game. Arch Manning and the Longhorns helped them look better than they are and their prior results make it clear than can play much worse. That's one of those rivalry games that are usually competitive regardless of rankings.
Of course Kentucky could also have a letdown game but I don't see it for a few reasons. One, they're still not getting a lot of respect by being 6 1/2 point underdogs when ranked 15th and playing an unranked team. Stein will use that for motivation and he'll also let them know they're playoff contenders IF they win this game. I think Kentucky will continue to improve on offense and the defense was pretty damn solid the second half against LSU, holding them to 10 points in the second and third quarters. Sure, they got a lot of yardage but this Kentucky team puts enough guys into the backfield to generate big plays and turnovers. We'll never again see teams score on us every single possession.
I think the Cats win this one and if Oklahoma reverts to earlier form it might not be close.
