This White Out is the highest sold tickets in Beaver Stadium history

Sorry if this is a dumb question but is having tickets “out” the same as sold?
Not as dumb question. I’ve never heard that term used to describe ticket sales before. ~
I’m assuming it means ticket allocation, meaning all tickets have been issued - including discounted, given aways, allocated to on-line ticket sites like Stub Hub, Gametime, SeatGeek, etc. (where there are plenty of discounted seats still available on line). It certainly isn’t attendance, which won’t be known until fans enter the stadium and butt’s are in the assigned seats.

LOL

That PR piece was probably written 3 months ago - and embargoed for this weekend :) (Seriously).

And, no, they most certainly don't have 112,000 seats "out" (or any other thing)
(Which is several thousand more than all the seats available in the stadium, and then some. How dumb are people?)

As we speak, they are giving free tickets to veterans in the north end zone. In addition, the stadium vender has no control over pricing and what they can sell. Beer prices are rising to 17.50 for a 16 ozer. Just wait, I think they know they fed up, hopefully that Indiana **** fer brains, hoes away.

Nebby might beat Indiana today.

I'm not convinced Southern Cal fans are traveling in large numbers to watch that team
Since they returned some of their allotment, I'd have to agree. Maybe a few folks made the trip from the west coast, but I'd guess most USC fans in attendance are currently living within driving distance, mainly NYC or DC. I think the same would hold true for PSU fans when we're playing on the west coast.

I get the concept of hating as the default setting, but how many people would you say were there?
"Default setting"? Nonsense.

But as to your question - no one would know the exact count, but ain't the slightest bit difficult to make a good estimate:

Around 100,000 maybe a tic more (which is a very good crowd, obviously). Add in press and various and sundries and what not (which is disingenuous - but lets say "what the heck, why not") and maybe you add another grand or two.
Doesn't take a savant - just someone with some basic information and the ability to "look around"
The stadium has roughly106,000 seats as currently configured - and aside from the random scattered seats here and there, all but the upper North, and the Upper "north end" of the West (which had noticable large voids) the stadium was generally full.
So 100,00 give or take - my guess would be slightly north of 100,000. Which is a very good crowd.

I do know what the attendance was NOT.
It was not 114,000+: a number that would require every single seat in the stadium to be full - PLUS an additional 8,000 (what - observing the game while suspended from the heavens on rappelling gear?). That said, I could have - and did - know exactly what that propo piece was going to say (you can look it up) months before the game was even played.
I know that not because I am a savant - but simply because I am not a complete f-ing idiot :) , and have some experience with the folks in question. And am not someone guillible enough to buy into inane propaganda sourced from a group that is so ego-fragile that it issues nothing BUT inane propaganda.
Is that "defaulting to hate"? No. It is maintaining a level of non-inanity and ignorance.

But it ain't my monkey and ain't my circus.
Not really ANY individual fan's "monkey or circus" either. So everyone can take it is they wish. No reason for me to care about that.
I find it intersting only as another demonstration of:
- The incredible fragile ego (and blatant disregard for honesty) of those in charge
- The shameless propos (and that list could easily be as long as Dikembe Mutambo's arm) pieces spewed by those fragile egos.

Our capacity was 107k. We had a record of 111,000. Old stadium.
Now capacity is 110. Yesterday 114,400. Get it?

Per my AI friend:

The actual turnstile attendance for the Penn State vs. USC game is not yet publicly available, but visual evidence from the broadcast and stadium photos indicates the crowd was at near-maximum capacity, realistically hovering between 110,000 and 114,000 people.

Precise turnstile data (the exact number of scanned tickets) typically takes several weeks or months to be released through public records requests. However, we can analyze the actual crowd density based on game-day reports and photos:

Visual Seating Density: Due to a massive $700 million renovation project, additional temporary and permanent bleachers were installed on the west side of the stadium. Photos and live footage showed that these new upper-level sections were completely filled for the first time this season, with virtually no visible empty aluminum or white space in the student sections or upper decks.

The "White Out" Factor: Because it was the annual White Out game, empty seats are incredibly easy to spot against the wall of white clothing. Aerial shots and stadium panoramas confirmed a virtually seamless crowd, meaning no-shows were at an absolute minimum.

While universities routinely announce "tickets distributed" rather than bodies through the turnstiles, the sheer density of the crowd suggests that the physical headcount inside the stadium last night was exceptionally close to the record-breaking distributed figure.

B, it was a spectacular setting and there were a gazillion people there setting the standard for the best gameday experience in America regardless of sport. At least we still have that.

Obviously:
It was a very big crowd (Something I have saiid "I don't know how many" times)
Obviously:
And, yes, the White Out is typically quite the spectacle (something I have probably said 1,000 times over the years). Though I am sure there are dozens of other programs who feel "their spectacle" is equal or better - because that is what fans do. Obviously. And to each their own.
And certainly never said anything to the contrary.

I just smh when I see complete ******** - that is abundantly easy to show "just aint so" - gets propo-ed ad infinitum (Even though, truth be told, when that happens in "sports" is it almost invisible in importance to when it happens in other venues - which it does, all the time, obviously. But those are different stories for different days - though maybe Exhibit A in those "other venues" could be PSU circa 2011-2012).
Especially when the propos come from habitually disingenuous sources (as they do wrt PSU Sports).

Congratulations on the record attendance. What was the score of the game all those people paid to see?
It was winning that built the stadium capacity from about 48-50k when I attended my first PSU game in 1966, The question should be how long will they announce attendance figures if the product doesn't improve drastically? Anyone care to estimate how many fannies will be in the seats for the Purdue game?
Does it really matter that 114.400 fans left disappointed as opposed to 111.000?

If they were actually this vane, then why not just claim attendance as 115,110 for the all-time on-campus record for attendance?
