I think @vkj91 might’ve been first to mention his name but if Narduzzi thinks the ACC is going to be left out sooner than we think maybe just maybe.
He has warned the job for years. Interviewed multiple times. Was pissed When they went to Schiano Fences need mending

Well, everyone connected with those fences here is gone.

I looked it up, but it doesn’t look like Keli was at WVU when they were doing or resumed the Backyard Brawl while he’s been at Pitt.

Other than the NFL, a HC spot at a P2 school seems pretty appealing when your own conference has some potential instability.

Especially with our now and new “vertical alignment” angle.

whoever is coaching James Madison
You want Bill Napier
who was 40-14 as the University of Louisiana's HC
the bombed at Florida going 22-23 (12-16 SEC) before being fired after starting off the 3025 season 3-4.
Billy might be best suited for a G-6 conference , but seems to have continued James Madison being one of the best G-6 programs and that should put him in the running

I mentioned this above but seeing Nebraska’s defense today perform against IU makes me like Eck more.

Aurich was Idaho DC for Eck before going to SDSU where he created a top 10 defense and now at Nebraska with a top 20ish defense.

Eck now has Spence Nowisnky as NM DC and they have a top 15-20 defense that leads the country in TOs.

I like it when HCs can identify and also replace good coaching talent and he’s doing it at places that don’t have all the resources to hire the top names.

Narduzzi is exactly the guy we DO NOT need to be successful here. So- he has been better at Pitt than GS has been at Rutgers. His classes really arent better, his transfers aren't better- Pitt doesnt excite a single person and he has coached the ACC, not the B1G.

He may end up an improvement but that would be- bowls every 5 of 7 years with maybe a 8 win season mixed in and just slightly better when at his ceiling.

But, it would be the typical thing Rutgers would do

Kelly not only lost 2 seasons of wins at ND but he crashed and burned at LSU where he could not get or keep coordinators. Its amazing that people think a guy like Kelly is going to "instantly" pull Rutgers up by its bootstraps. Kelly got fired after 49-25 home loss to Texas A&M that dropped LSU to a 5-3 record. L:SU ... L-S-U. I think old BE fans think Kelly of Cincy is some hot commodity but he's had his best days. I've seen this "Old Guy -Big Name" movie too many times Of course a key factor is the massive buyout. Aint happening IMO
💯💯💯

People here think that Brian Kelly is on the same level as Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Dabo Sweeney when he’s not.

Same way people here thought Schiano was in the Frank Beamer, Rick Rodriguez, Kirk Ferentz, Brian Alvarez level when he never was.

They are both excellent Xs and Os coaches with ties to NY/NJ, and a history of success at the NFL level. Spags has ties to Rutgers. Rex would be the best recruiter in the country.
What success did Rex Ryan ever had in the NFL?

Take the Jets to one AFC Championship game???

I would agree that Rex provides a wider range of potential outcomes because he has been out of coaching for a few years, but his college history, while short, was quite good. He spent 4 years as DC of Morehead State, where the defense was consistently among the best in the country, 2 years as DC at Cinncinnati, where the defense was ranked as high as 13th, and one year at Oklahoma, where the defense was ranked 6th, before he went to the NFL. He has a huge personality that would draw lots of attention and donors, players who have played for him absolutely love him, and he has the kind of confidence that can take on a big challenge. In a NIL world it’s much more like the NFL, so I think that is more positive than negative. And how much fun would it be for him to give Ryan Day a pregame handshake, pull him in and whisper in his ear “I’m going to kill your quarterback today”.
1987 to 1993, 1996 to 1999…

This is worse than people saying Schiano is a great coach because of 2006.

HOLY CRAP WITH THE FAKE NOSTALGIA HERE!!!!!!!!

Eagles might fire Nick Sirianni as it looks like they are punting on the season and doing a soft rebuild after Lane Johnson retired. Fair warning though...if you hated Schiano you will hate Sirianni lol and probably wish to never have an Italian as a football HC again.
At least Siriani won a championship

This is what I’ve said here since I’ve seen the effects of NIL and portal the last few years.

Yep I know you have been saying it for as long as I have. Probably longer. Right coach that knows how to identify talent can win anywhere. Don’t have to pay top dollar to get results. Can turn, and should turn the roster over every 2 years. Dont need 3-4 recruiting cycles to get “your guys”.

Yea and we all have our preferences of who might work and there’s no guarantee in that. Diligence and some luck is necessary but there is a guarantee of renewed hope in the unknown. With the new CFB landscape, that hope to do something notable is as real as it’s ever been no matter what school in the P4 you are.

Just wait for the revisionist history on Chesney. Awful facilities, no stadium, similar NIL and he already has more ranked wins than the last 10 years of Schiano. Soon we will hear it’s only because of NIL from a certain crowd

And Kelly abandoned the University of Cincinnati players before the National Championship Game to take the Notre Dame job.

Cincinnati did not play in the National Championship and 2009 was the BCS era. Texas and Alabama played for the National Championship while Cincinnati played Florida in the Sugar Bowl. That year there were FIVE undefeated teams at the end of the season: #1 Alabama, #2 Texas, #3 Cincinnati, #4 TCU, and #6 Boise State, with 12-1 Florida #5.

Sign me up right now for him to do the same thing to RU.

I agree, but he probably wouldn't. Lane Kiffin might be the only coach that is foolish enough to abandon a playoff team to take a higher profile job where he'll be fired after two or three seasons.

It's in the playbook. There's one poster who's saying that already. The same thing happened with Cignetti.

Two AFC Championship games ... with a rookie QB who was also the worst starting QB in the league.
TWO… AFC Championship Games…

And yes both are better than Schiano (and Rex Ryan). But you to get Sean McDermott and Matt Lafluer because they went to two conference championship games as well if you think Rex Ryan is a good coach?

He grew up a die hard UK fan but he went to Louisville. He’s not leaving for RU.

Joe Sloan the OC is a name that gets brought up but not as sure about him. Stein doesn’t call plays there but is heavily involved in the offense and when to call what at times. There was an article on it from on3.

Sloan looked really good when Jayden Daniels was at LSU but when he left not so much and he was harpooned by the fan base there. Don’t know what he did at LaTech.

From the article:

I do believe I’m one of the best play callers in the country, and I know why I’m in this position. But I don’t want to be a great play caller. I want to be a great head coach,” Stein explained. “And when you think about the guys who won national championships, recently, and old, it’s guys who are great head coaches.”

“I’m going to be heavily involved in the offense every step of the way, but just because I’m not reading off into the mic to our quarterback doesn’t mean that I’m not meticulous about what plays are being called and when it’s being called.”

Thinkng about how Lanning is having trouble after his coordinators left and how Elko after his OC left (both coaches used internal promotions) makes think more about the importance of identifying and also replacing coaching talent.

Lupoi at Cal with his OC (and Ash too) are some other examples. A guy with good connections or has shown some ability to find a replace quality staff is important as well.

Sure, because Mark Sanchez is comparable talent to Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers.

In all fairness, being on the same level as Dabo in 2026 isn't a compliment. I don't love the idea of Kelly either, mostly because he's an older guy whose career is trending the wrong way, though I'm also not sure there's a slam dunk(-ish, I'm on record as thinking basically every hire is a crapshoot) up and coming hire to be had either. But if you look at the new P4 hires really killing it so far this year (Stein at UK, Chesney at UCLA), the through line seems to be younger guys who will infuse the entire program with energy. I just don't see Kelly being that guy at this stage of his career.

Dabo’s two National Championship rings says otherwise. At least bothe were within a decade… barely.

I actually agree with this and say that they should look at Delawares Ryan Carty along with the other younger coaches who has done well in the Group Of section of FBS.
