Washington’s defense is ranked a respectable #50ish but we ran on them like they were uni type. Unexpected to say the least after repeated horrible performances. Did we change anything (such as blocking scheme) or wa did screwup schematically?

one thing i noticed was that moulton ran a bit differently frequently attacking holes emerging laterally instead of north south before turning upfield…i’m no expert but it looked unusual to me

What have I been saying the problem was?

That would still be the answer, as to what got fixed

We weren't playing Michigan and Ohio State, and Washington was awful at tackling. We could've ran for 400 yards if we didn't need to pass some just for practice. Pleasantly surprised as I thought it'd be more like a 23-20 game one way or the other. Took care of that in the first half.

Just one game for my perspective against Washington but they looked like the worst coached defense I have ever seen. They lacked any kind of physicality. They were charmin soft. They looked like they had no clue where they were supposed to be.

I’ve watched big ten football for a long time. First Penn State. The Nebraska. Then Maryland and Rutgers. Then the west coast teams. all of them struggled because they could not adjust to the physicality of big ten football.

I posted about the same question and my thought was perhaps Wash does something different in their run stop scheme that enabled our blocking patters to work or our coaches changed a bit the angles our blockers take and some slightly different scheme stuff. It was great to watch.

1. Moulton ran with maximum effort
2. Ferentz tinckers with o-line early in season and has now found better, improving formula

Ineresting thoughts, all of you.

does anybody have any perspectives to offer re: Dotzler? He seems to be characterized here as the "weak link," & was just wondering if that is true, is he improving?

Something sure as Heck changed this week, and it was not entirely the QB or defense.

We seem to start slow and I think we are getting into more of a groove. I also think they could not ignore our passing game so they could not completely sell out against the run. Heck brings a bit more to the game....i know it is just one game but a nite game on the road in a tough place to play and he did not flinch. The play calling was much more diverse this game.
