Did I miss something. Why is only about defense. I want Ciarocca gone. Don’t care what the offense has accomplished he’s terrible and only mold good because they brought in playmakers that the defense doesn’t have

Looking back I probably should've included offense as well, but the defense is the major issue with the team right now, not the offense.

Greg should come back in 2027. Most successful coach in program history in modern era combined with a massive buyout for a department that has lost close to a half billion dollars in the last decade and has minimal alumni support.

Greg will get this fixed and back to bowling again. We must also have fiscal discipline.
Let your thoughts known in the link!

Given the University President's comments regarding fiscal responsibility and not having an annual $100 million donor group for Rutgers Football and Basketball, I would feel comfortable roughing it for another year with Greg to see what he can do in a fresh year with a healthy/experienced QB.

Greg needs to leverage his big name, successful NFL players as a recruiting tool with Top Tier Power 5 Program options to come play right away at Rutgers.

Of course, Greg would need to make some personnel and budget changes. Perhaps have less coaches - double duty.
Now I am ready for the hate responses.

The offensive side of the ball is just as guilty as the defensive. They underperformed more-so in the first 2 games. Especially with the talent disparity they had. Kirk shouldn’t get a pass. Especially considering he had the luxury of tenure.

This is not a Hate response.

Greg had a healthy and experienced QB last year. The QB was good enough to make an NFL roster. Rutgers statistically had its best offense in a decade. And yet Rutgers still could not make a Bowl game or beat any Big Ten Team with a winning record. The 2 Big Ten wins came against the 2 worst Big Ten teams of 2025. Greg celebrated the Purdue win as if Rutgers won a Super Bowl. It looked insane.

There is literally nothing you can point to in the past 6.5 years that indicates any hope whatsoever that Greg can achieve anything better than a Pinstripe Bowl with a 6 wins season. That should not be the goal of the program or its fanbase.

When is Enough Enough? You as a Rutgers fan deserve better. No Admin. or fanbase across the major college football landscape would put up with the results of the past 6.5 years. It's awful and waiting another year is wasting time and more resources.

Beg to differ. We have a top 10 WR and RB and the offense is underperforming had it down better we could have out scored UMass and BC and we’d be 3-2 not 1-4

Here's what I wrote:

The school can't afford better coaching options. The AD knows this which is why Schiano hasn't been fired and the fanbase looks worse than RutgersAl for constantly claiming that his firing will be "tomorrow morning."

RU had enough talent to be 9-3 in 2024 and 8-4 last year. At least 6 losses from 2024 until the current point in this season can be blamed on poor decision making, poor preparation, and inadequate in game coaching.

Just stop the narrative Greg is the only coach who can win at Rutgers. Is he winning at Rutgers?

How many coaches have you seen that :

Stopped catching all punts because math said it was risky?
Tackled QBs on last second kneel downs?
Called TO with 40 seconds to go in 1st half and up 50 point and getting QB injured because of it?
Can't score ordinary TDs in red zone ("dead zone" for RU) over three decades and even opponents mention how odd it is?

GS is not stupid or a bad coach - he's just weird about some things (Asperger's?). Maybe someone could get to him with an intervention. I've seen ADs tell coaches they want a new offense (Army in the 90s)

In my survey I got to rant at length about how all our issues lead back to Greg and how it’s time for a change. A little light reading for Richie that was cathartic for me.

With a Top 10 Wr and RB even gong back to last year there are lots of times where the offense stalls and keeps the other team in games. Then throw in inability to score in red zone. Every team in the country has a few end zone plays where a TE sneaks loose or a RB to the flat makes easy scores. It seems so difficult for Rutgers to score in the red zone. and this year they can’t even get first downs in 4th -1.

The overall numbers aren’t pretty and if you take out the UMass game. To the average fan like me the defense has looked like it’s in the right coverages and that most of the guys are understanding their job. There haven’t been any real blown assignments like last year. Guys are generally where they should be and everyone is covered. It seems more like it’s a player problem. The D Line just isn’t big enough. You have guys who are still taking a bad angle or getting sucked into the backfield and even more of it is just one on one the other teams player are better.0

We literally don’t gave 1 player on D that would start on the 2006-2010 teams. Even Ash defenses had better players on average it seems

Actually several of Ash’s recruits made it to the NFL. Don’t think you can say the same for this squad. But to the point, I’d be curious to see Johansen defense if he had good players. When he had comparable athletes in South Dakota his defense were pretty good.

If by chance Eck was hired, never know he could keep him of staff as co-DC or something. He coached at South Dakota St and Idaho and might be familiar with him and his ability.

you had me until Johansen

while FCS does have some talent, it's the 80/20 rule and he's shown nothing that would warrant thinking he can elevate anyone at this level. This defense is statistically worse than last year at this point.

I am surprised some people are still defending him. I thought it was strange when everyone defended a QB who couldn't throw, audible, read a defense, or improvise and create plays, and then said the best Qb to play for Rutgers in decades who is now a pro wasn't as good ss the former, but this takes it to the next level. It is beyond obvious its time for new blood. Rutgers is looking up at average from the bottom.

Coach knows best though....

Thinking about the LB room Schiano 2.0 inherited and it’s never been as good as what he took over - this is a problem.

I forgot about that

Teel's hand was sore the rest of the season after hitting Norfolk helmet.
GS has done a fair amount of odd things with TOs

He called a TO with a lead and seconds to go in first vs Louisville in 2007. Louisville ended up scoring and L'ville coach credited the TO as a difference maker

Google AI:

"In the November 29, 2007 game between Louisville and Rutgers, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano called a timeout with 29 seconds left in the first half that famously backfired.

The Backstory
Rutgers held a commanding 28-10 lead late in the second quarter. After Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm was sacked by Rutgers defensive tackle Eric Foster for a 9-yard loss (bringing up a 2nd and 19 at the Louisville 37-yard line), Schiano stopped the clock by calling a Rutgers timeout at the 0:29 mark. His goal was to force a quick stop, prevent Louisville from letting the clock run out, and get the ball back for his offense before halftime."

GS Often overthinking the TOs

Of course there was the Illinois mess when GS called TO before Illinois missed a 58 yarder in bad winds allowing another play for llinois win

COLUMN: Greg Schiano's lack of accountability after questionable timeout in loss to Illinois is concerning
