Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Ball State

[eddie_gocats]

Need to cover the spread to get ranked… blow them out 2nd cats!

[MCC_Cat]

And even worse I'll be surprised if Fitzgerald comes back

No way he comes back. That looked like left knee. Hope just a strain/sprain he can rest and ice.

[Rodenthater]

Disappointing defensive effort!

[Fanaticat98]

Disappointing defensive effort!

At the game and seeing from end zone view, it’s like our DBs are not even covering guys. I know they’ve played better so maybe just a down effort but it’s concerning.

[JustGary]

Good stop by the d

[JustGary]

Now the offense is off

[TheC]

Both lines look mediocre today.

[Deeringfish]

Eligon needed to come back for that ball and force a PI

[CappyNU]

Playing "Born in the USA" to honor a military veteran is a...choice.

[Rodenthater]

Well here we go! White knuckles to the end!

[phatcat_rivals223240]

Suddenly listless

[jensberg]

Now we have no offense this is really getting disconcerting

[jensberg]

So much for resting starters

[MCC_Cat]

Great to see Fitzgerald back!

[JustGary]

Covey with the tackle as Ball State is at least trying.

[Deeringfish]

Well, Special teams looked pretty good. Way to stay home.

[Deeringfish]

Score a TD now and it might take the wind out of Ball States sails for the rest of the game.

[Deeringfish]

That looked nice and should stem the tide.

[JustGary]

Red for the defense to have a good series and then we can start resting players

[Deeringfish]

That shadow looks like it could cause trouble

[TheC]

Our DEs are not looking great

[phatcat_rivals223240]

That shadow looks like it could cause trouble

It's hot af in the stands

[Deeringfish]

It's hot af in the stands

On the field too I bet

[Deeringfish]

Should able to stop 1st and 35

[CappyNU]

Really unnecessary penalty there on that return TD.

Edit: uh, penalties, I guess. Going from a touchdown to the 1 yard line... woof.

[Baz = Heisman]

Playing "Born in the USA" to honor a military veteran is a...choice.

It cracks me up how often this happens at sporting events. Definitely not limited to NU.

[TheC]

That's a 99 yard penalty

[its_the_sauce]

Granted it only makes a 1 yard difference but did they say on broadcast why sideline warning enforced? That was only our first

[phatcat_rivals223240]

That's a 99 yard penalty

3 penalties same play

[Deeringfish]

This offense doesn't have a very good track record backed up and they are not getting any push up the middle today.

[TheC]

3 penalties same play

Yeah, but the first hold is what cost them 99 yards

[TheC]

That was a catch! Wow!!

[TheC]

That's a 99 yard penalty

Instead we get a 99 yard touchdown drive!

[Deeringfish]

Big man couldn't be moved

[Deeringfish]

In NU over 400 yards?

[JustGary]

Now we need to get backups in

[eddie_gocats]

4… DONT STOP … beat the cover!

[TheC]

Our DEs have done a lousy job containing the edge

[Deeringfish]

4… DONT STOP … beat the cover!

It too hot, the guys are gassed, People are more likely to be injured when they are tired.

[TheC]

What the hell is leaping?
