Heck plays loose he’s a gamer. You want a qb who elevates everybody, I think he gets partial credit for that. I’d ride with Hecklinski.

UW defense rank was not bad, USC is supposed to have a great offense, UW defended them pretty well at USC, Minnesota put up 27. Their defense is not bad, our offense is pretty good.

I thought Xavier Styles played a helluva game! He got hosed on the PI in the endzone. But dude was flying around and a tackling machine from the safety position tntie. Not player of the game compared to the offensive guys, but dude made a statement tntie imo.

Easily. 8 yards per carry? GTFOOH. For the first time this year Moulton and the OL were dominant against a legitimate P4 defense on their home field. Even after Washington stacked the box they simply had no answers for the Iowa run game and Moulton broke through every arm tackle.

O line played great.
Hawthorne had his best game as Hawk.
Heck was fine. He looked better than Brown for placement of his ball.
The linebackers all did great.

Styles did get screwed on the PI. The secondary, particularly Watson and Wallace need to improve mightly. I think I like Styles over Hawkins, granted two completely different beasts.

Team needed it. Iowa State is a bad team and we struggled. Michigan's offense is mediocre and we made them look top 10 in the country. This team is a lot less than we thought they were going into the season. I'm starting to think 7-5 is definitely on the table.

I'm just tired of the college football world using us as a punching bag. Hawkeye athletics are the only thing we've got in Iowa, and it represents the state, like professional teams in bigger states.

Lolol.. Irrelevant what you thought before the season started. We're judging them from what we've seen on the field so far. Offense has regressed, week over week, excluding UNI. Defense showed promise with bending and not breaking, but poor tackling remains an issue, our secondary is suspect, and our DLine is not getting the pressure needed. No one compared anyone else on our schedule to OSU, but you'd be lying to yourself if you think NW, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska haven't looked improved. Iowa will be favored in maybe 2 of those games. Not to mention Washington and our West Coast Curse. The season is still very much alive, but it's going to be a brutal rock fight the rest of the way due to the inexperience and talent ceiling of this team.

It takes a team, so while Hecklinski was fabulous in his first start and Moulton was terrific, the OL made their performances possible. It took everyone on both sides of the ball and special teams to throttle Washington. Player of the game is the wrong question. When a team wins, it's almost always because it was a combination of efforts. Iowa beat Washington, and that's all that matters. The individual performances of dozens and dozens of players made that happen.
