Has anyone else seen/read this stupid debate happening on many social media accounts? Personally I think this was just be stupid and embarrassing for PSU to celebrate a win over USC who we have recently beaten. Yay, lets celebrate being 1-2 in the Big Ten? Just silly to plant that seed. (Not sure if it was talked about earlier in the week but searching turned up nothing for me).

I don't think embarrassing is the right word. I've seen worse. I'm not a big fan of it in any circumstance but we'd be an unranked team beating a ranked team at a time where a segment of the fan base believes we are on par with Temple or Maryland
When is the last time an unranked Penn State beat a ranked opponent?

This brings up another question. When is the last time that PSU actually won a game that maybe it wasn't supposed to win, like Okie State did this season against Oregon? It probably was ten years ago, which is amazing considering how many really good if not elite teams PSU has had in those intervening years.

I'd say the biggest upset was at Wisky with B.OB. I think PSU was -23. Recently - PSU won the games they were supposed to (for the most part) and lost the others (almost every time).

Well, inexplicably Penn State is favored to win. Even if you think that’s nonsense, USC was the opening bet but only by 1.5.

don’t think it’s worth storming the field unless we are seeking to block the visiting tunnel so as to introduce ourselves to the Song Girls and invite them back to a party.

This was a game in which I had us losing before the season. I think that the only way PSU wins this game is if USC brings their traditional lousy Big 10 road game performance, but PSU probably won't even be able to take advantage of that even if that happens.

Yeah, but to my knowledge, an unexpected win hasn't happened since the 2016 OSU game. You're right in that until last season with some exceptions, PSU won the games that it should've won and lost the games in which they were an underdog or could be considered as toss ups.

Since 2025, the worst situation now is happening with regularity in that PSU not only doesn't win the games in which they're an underdog or are toss ups, but they're now losing games that they almost always won.

Um, what?! Storm the field for a win over USC? Beyond embarrassing. Please no.

And I would’ve picked PSU winning for the same reason. USC (road) is a real thing, and is almost certainly playing a role in the spread.

I hope so, because USC simply has not been the same team in Big 10 road games, even in games at places like Rutgers this season, and they even lost at average Michigan and Minnesota and bad Maryland in 2024, and at Illinois in 2025. However, I have no faith that PSU either has the intestinal fortitude or acumen to win a game like this right now.

Depends on what you consider a game that we "weren't supposed to win". Since the OSU game in 2016, our wins as underdogs were in the Rose Bowl against Utah, at Wisconsin to open the season in 2021, and Michigan in 2020.

Thanks. The Wisconsin game in 2021 and the Utah Rose Bowl probably come closest to that, although the 2021 team probably would've have had a similar season as the 2022 team did if Clifford hadn't gotten injured in the Iowa game, and the 2022 team was pretty good and probably more talented than that Utah team. That 2020 Michigan team was even worse than PSU,

If only someone would've thought to have a backup qb ready to do more than take a center snap.

Penn State is the perfect opportunity for USC to overcome their road problems.

Definitely if PSU plays with the same lack of passion, desire and effort as they did last week. It’s one thing to get beat because the other team was just better than you, but it’s another thing not to even show up. Northwestern right now is just better than PSU, but they’re not not that much better and definitely not good enough to have gained around 400 yards on the ground. When a team does that and the two teams are relatively equal in quality, that tells me that the one team lacked the necessary effort and desire to compete.

At the very least, Campbell better have this team ready to compete very hard tomorrow night.
