Here's one of the times, I was. Many years ago, in Pittsburgh I was attending a Christmas party at a friend's home. They rescued Giant Collie Show dogs. Unbeknownst to me is many times, with Giant Collie show dogs they clip their vocal chords so it doesn't impact the showing (I'm assuming they bark a lot). This was the situation with the Christmas party dog in question; it lacked vocal chords.

While socializing at this party and enjoying a Christmas spirit, apparently, I was stepping on this Giant Collies tail while enjoying the festivities. Since it was noisy, the dog attempted to alert me to his discomfort. Since the vocal chords were removed I had no idea. The dog must have thought of me as some j-rk-off. And I pride myself on awareness of my surroundings.

Next sequence is me jumping in the air. The dog bit me right in the A--. Turned to look at him (midair) he communicates thru expression, tried to warn you Potter.

I bring this up because I'm in Pittsburgh today and just stopped by that friend's home. He happily reminded me. Got me to thinking, who else.

Shabbat Shalom

3 times. Mini airdale, Lab, cocker spaniel. Got my revenge though, pepper sprayed a Shepard that was chasing kids coming off a bus.

I have, I was at my grandmother‘s playing out in the yard when I was 11. The neighbors, who were ******** to my grandmother and constantly threw trash in her yard, always kept their dog out on a running line. That day he broke loose and came after me. He bit me in the right calf and then I proceeded to kick him about a half dozen times until he finally ran back home.

Sheppard for me too. A buddy in high school had one. I had been to his house dozens of times with no issues. One day I pull up in the street in front of his house and start across the yard. The whole family is out front for some reason and they all greet me warmly. Damn dog tears across the yard snarling at me. It lunges at my throat, I just got my arm up in time and he nailed me at the elbow which was blocking my throat. It proceeded to do the death shake like I was a groundhog while they struggled to get it loose. To this day - 50ish years later, I can still find the scars.

Have never liked, or trusted Sheppards since.

Standard Poodle. And a Labradoodle. Go figure. What's the common denominator here?

To be fair, I picked up a stray cat one time only to have him stick a claw through my nose and hang from it for a few seconds.

Numerous times. Of course they were all during the course of roughhousing with the dog or puppy. Just finally had one heal that I got when playing tug of war with a dog toy with our 10 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Multiple times when I was a Pittsburgh Press paperboy in the mid-70’s. A mailman gave me some doggy mace (called “Halt! iirc) late in my tenure but I never had to use it.

Also, my loveable, dopey basset hound used to bite the ever-loving s**t out of me every time we’d go to clean his ears. After the first few times, I’d put on a thick sweatshirt and gloves before attempting it. He knew what was coming the moment I geared up and would turn into the beast from hell.

Smitten, but not bitten.
My younger son was a volunteer fireman. He went on a fire call, and we got a call from him that he was in the ER. He said he was rescuing a dog from a house fire and the dog bit him through his fire proof glove. I asked about the dog: pit bull, doberman, etc. He said it was a chihuahua. Fortunately it had the rabies shot.
It's not the size of the dog........

Standing in my backyard last year and a squirrel jumped from my wood pile and climbed up my leg on to my arm. Knocked him off with a speaker I was holding. Didn't bite me but his clawed made a few blood marks. I'm thinking someone must be feeding him.

You weren’t really bit by the dog Mr potter because of what you explained he had no other choice . you unknowingly provoked the aggression out of the dog.

Odd one here. Neighbor bought a German Shepard. The thing eventually was put down, but as an intro, I was petting him and he bit my hand in a seemingly playful manor which I was perfectly OK with. Looked down at my hand and blood was running all over the place. Didn't hurt, but alarming none the less. He turned out to be inbred. Nasty as $hite. Went after his wife, and that was that.

3 times. The first, I deserved because I was teasing my dog Mike. The other two I didn't deserve...chihuahuas! They are the devil!

Little dogs like chihuahuas and poodles are by far the worst. All they do is yip and nip. Always hated them.

German Shepherds are the best. Highly intelligent, highly protective, and highly loyal. And yes. I’ve had multiple thick Army jackets and thick gloves ripped to shreds playfully wrestling with them. But I can’t say I’ve ever been bitten by a Shepherd in anger. They’ll take a lot of crap that other dogs won’t if you’ve built a solid trust with them. And I think all that playful rough wrestling helps to build that trust.
