23-9 which would put us somewhere in that 4-5 seed range (compared to last year) where Kansas got a 4 seed with 10 losses but Vanderbilt got a 5 seed with 8 losses, seed depending on who we actually beat worth a darn verses who we lose to in order to arrive at that record. Obviously hope for more as a fan, but can only base the expectations off what we have on paper and the last two years teams.

I see 24-8. This team will be hard to beat down the stretch if they jell and can shoot a high percentage from 3 point range. That will be their super power.
elite 8.
Going by the schedule, I see our losses as:
L Kansas
L @ Virginia
L Louisville
L @ Missouri
L @ Texas
L Alabama
L @ Tennessee
L @ Georgia
L Arkansas
L @ Vandy
L @ Florida

21-11 going into the SEC tournament.
think this is close but I have us beating Kansas, Virginia ( I hope cuz I’m going to that game) bama, Ark and Vandy. More than likely we beat UGA and Missouri too.

I think its pretty fair to predict 22-10. I don't see us losing many games at home but I don't trust Pope to win the road games where we are the better team.
I think it’s make or break for Pope this year. I’m really hoping things work out and we avoid major injuries. (Knock on wood). This team can compete. We’ll soon find out the answer.

I wish we could make it to the final four but I think that's really unrealistic with this team and setting up Pope for failure if that's your expectation.

I’ve seen worse teams than us and worse coaches make the Final Four. But Mark Pope hasnt won more than 2 or 3 games in a row against legit competition in his entire career.

Hard to have much optimism until he proves otherwise at this point.

Add on to that this roster has two very glaring vital weaknesses. Rebounding and defense. Neither of which has been Pope’s strong suit in terms of development and teaching.

He brought into two all world defenders and one of the best rebounders in college in his first season and we still struggled mightily in both departments.

So unless Pope has some unprecedented off season revelations it’s likely to be more of the same. 10+ losses, middle of the pack sec finish, and a 2nd or 3rd round exit.

I just hope Batt has the balls to move on quickly. We are in real danger of becoming IU bball. Honestly we might already be there.

Pretty simple really. If Pope wants to keep his job, he needs to stay under ten losses in the regular season and at least get to a sweet 16.

I agree, injuries played a role his first two years, but that's not a viable excuse this year. Put up, or head out.

Staying under 10 losses is going to be hard, because the SEC is going to be stacked and we have 3 or 4 tough games prior to SEC play, but 24-8, or 23-9 is doable and I would be good with that as long as we make some serious noise in the SECT and NCAAT.

The weird sub patterns and lack of game prep need to be a thing of the past, those two issues will ensure a lot more losses if they continue.

So if we lose 10 total and make sweet 16 hes gone but if he loses 9 and makes it deserves a 4th year? Make that make sense to me. Mediocrity is mediocrity jeff.

i thought in addition to having a good year, pope needed to enter the season with 2 or 3 stud recruits to help tell the story of a better tomorrow. but here we are on the brink and all we got is hampton who has tumbled in the rankings.

pope has been given almost 50M over a 2 year span. very few programs can make that claim. the results need to match the investment.

That's just a made up number with no verifiable factual basis. Are saying if he won say 28 or 29 games and made the Elite Eight you would advocate for his firing if he doesn't have 2 or 3 stud HS recruits lined up?

23-9 possibly 24-8. Schedule favors UK especially the in conference slate. Ideally, we shouldn't finish with more than 6 losses but fans should know by now that conference road games are super tough and OOC we haven’t been a juggernaut lately.

*exhibition games don't count

Some of our fans are literally OBSESSED with high school recruits. It’s wild to me. Even though, everyone knows that experience is what wins in college these days. It’s been proven over and over the past several years. Hell, duke gets damn near any high school player they want and have made one final four and haven’t even made a title game appearance with Scheyer.

EDIT: I can hear the brigade coming now, to point to his regular season record. I mean, he coaches in the ACC! LMFAO!

yes.....we are a kentucky. we should be regularly a top 10 program. that demands program building. which HS recruiting is a major piece.

That is objectively stupid and reeks of irrational entitlement. Name me one coach in the history of college basketball who was immediately fired after winning 28-29 games and making the Elite Eight minus a scandal.

With the transfer portal now what it is the importance of HS recruiting is not what it used to be. With so many potential returnees from the current roster it is logical that using the portal at a later juncture can be an effective course of action for next season.

i cant name one coach that was fired. but i probably could name coaches that should have been fired. thats the point. how this ends is pretty obvious to me at this point....just depends how much pain and suffering we all need to go through to get there.

46-26 through 2 years with ****** roster building but given more money then just about any program and people are making up elite 8/final four scenarios with a team that will enter the year ranked in the 20s and 5th at best in the SEC.
loser mentality, loser enablement, loser results, number one in excuse making

This is just more stupidity. No coach has ever been fired under this scenario but you think they should have been because you fancy yourself to be smarter than every A.D. who was ever presented with such a situation.

46-26 through 2 seasons decimated by key injuries after inheriting an empty roster late in the process year one. The theoretical scenario I used to ask your thoughts on this is in no way dependent on how realistic you think the possibility of that playing out actually is.

You were the one who specified he should be fired for a good season if he doesn't have 2 or 3 stud HS recruits lined up in addition to Hampton who you do not consider qualified for that designation. The scenario I laid out was based on you saying good season and I assume you would not label anything less than that a good season.

you mean the same ADs that operate their programs at a loss year over year, cut contracts with coaches that no one is really pursing? yeah i think i'm smarter than most of them.

pope should be fired today for his fantastic failures at running the program. like i said....this will all come to pass in time. losers lose.

So you actually have such a great job that you are not interested in a highly lucrative AD job that you consider yourself so highly qualified for?

It may well come to pass but if it does immediately following a 29 win Elite Eight season it would qualify as one the stupidest most unjust firings in history.

what would be more stupid would be immediately following a 29 win Elite Eight season (which isnt happening) would be giving him a raise and contract extension. something that would 100% happen and 100% be a disaster.

I'm done with you. You will just continue to move the goalpost and there is no chance you will ever acknowledge you got out over your ski's and made some goofy comments based on unrealistic entitlement. If you can't concede that 29 wins and an Elite Eight deserves another season it is pointless to converse any further with you.

You get the last word here since I've put you on ignore and will not see it thus I will not be tempted to waste any more time trying to reason with you.
