I have zero confidence that the NCAA will be able to enforce any punishment even if find violations. If they try, the school will just hire a fleet of lawyers to get a court order overturning it.

That just seems to be how it works now. The courts have neutered the NCAA to the point of near complete impotence.

I don't know how it works with universities but listing salary as equipment is about one of the biggest accounting no nos there is. It's called overstating your assets.

It's probably what they deserve after letting UNCheat BB slide for decades of extensive cheating in all areas. The NCAA's unequal enforcement over the years established that they are not responsible enough to have that enforcement authority and has created this chaotic period which does not yet have a clear answer how to deal with going forward.

The ESPN article indicated that these investigation could result in ineligible player rulings. At the very least, the official win/loss for the season could be struck from the records. I don't know what other penalties might result from ineligible player determinations.

Don't forget all of the Duke players who received $100k worth of jewelry. Players parents being given jobs, and free houses, etc. All of Coach K's cheating was swept under the rug for decades as well.
