the Hawkeyes (4-1) take their act out west to face the Huskies (3-2) as both clubs are coming off loses.

Iowa looks to going with a backup QB tonight against a rather stingy Washington defense.

if the Hawkeyes are going to make a game of it the defense will need to slow down a solid huskies offensive group.

I’m expecting a tight game tonight with the huskies winning Q4 and pulling out a 23-17 victory.

Go Hawks!

A "backup QB"? But KF insisted all summer and all fall that Brown and Hecklinski were "even," despite Hecklinski outplaying Brown by a million miles in the kids day open practice. And then when the season started, it was still a dead heat, according to KF. And then Brown has started every damn game. Sound "even" to you?

Hecklinski is the more athletic, more talented QB who not only can sling it but who can run it. Brown is a wobbly ball game manager. Hell, his passes were so wobbly vs. OSU that they even had a review to see if the ball had been tipped at the LOS. But nope. It was just another wounded duck. Brown had receivers WIDE OPEN all day vs. OSU, but he missed most of them, and by yards, not by inches. And then he committed two of the deadliest sins in KF's book: Brown lost a fumble that set up an easy OSU touchdown in the first few minutes, and then Brown tossed an INT. TWO turnovers that helped kill Iowa's chances. And yet, were it not for the shoulder boo-boo, Brown would be starting again tonight. Hell, for all I know, he will anyway, despite the fact that Hecklinski looked fantastic vs. OSU, is 100 percent healthy, and KF said the QBs were "even."

I'll call it a big win for Iowa if Hecklinski starts. The offense will look far better than it has all season under Brown, not counting the high school games vs. NIU and UNI.

Good points all around! It seems Hank has earned the QB 'union card' quite early in his career. Good kid, hard worker and Hank has been improving yet we should get a good, long look at Heck with more upside and potential. Rollout game will be on full display tonight. Wash has a decent DL but does have lapses and you can hit a long run (20+) if you stay patient and LJ Phillips is gonna breakout tonight.

My pick to click is #81 DJV...maybe finally back to health and the TE seam route will be alive and well off zone read/play action...LFG!

Actually forgot about the Heck RPO potential, that is def back on the table tonight...Grono would've made OSU pay for that attacking 5 man front and the DE crashing everytime, Hank's under center fakes aren't very good...Stanley was pretty darn good here. Heck will pull a few tonight but coaches probably warning him given QB depth...just get to this bye with a W!

I’m not going to lie; I may be setting the DVR to record the fourth quarter.
Not a fan of an 8:00 pm Central, Friday kickoff.

I don't think anyone is beside people in Seattle. At least we don't kick off at 9:15pm like Iowa State does tonight.
